Nebraska volleyball keeps rolling, and Wednesday’s sweep of Creighton came with a little bit of everything: a dominant score line, a record crowd at Pinnacle Bank Arena and another reminder that the Huskers’ depth is becoming a problem for everyone else.
The top-ranked Huskers moved to 8-0 with a 3-0 win over the Bluejays, taking the sets 25-13, 25-15 and 25-19. Nebraska also improved to 25-0 all-time against Creighton, leaving the Bluejays still searching for their first win in the series. Creighton dropped to 5-5.
With Manaia Ogbechie out because of illness, Kenna Cogill stepped into the middle and made the most of the opportunity. The sophomore from Arizona finished with a career-high eight kills, hit .727 and added two blocks. After showing what she could do in a start against DePaul for Andi Jackson, Cogill added another strong performance to Nebraska’s growing case for elite depth at middle blocker.
The Huskers’ defense was just as important as the offense. Nebraska held Creighton to -.033 hitting, a season low for the Bluejays, and smothered a Top-25 opponent from start to finish.
The Huskers have been doing this at a high level for a while now, with the best hitting percentage defense in college volleyball in 2025. They also entered the match with the best defense so far in 2026 and the second-best hitting percentage differential behind Michigan State, though that could have shifted after the final numbers.
The veterans did their part, too. Jackson led Nebraska with nine kills and finished with five blocks.
Harper Murray had eight kills, which moved her into eighth all-time in the scoring rally era. Bergen Reilly posted her third double-double of the season with 33 assists and 11 digs, another strong showing in a year where she is making a serious push for Big Ten Player of the Year and maybe more.
On the football side, Nebraska picked up a future non-conference matchup that will get attention right away. According to Huskers.com, the Huskers will face Notre Dame in a home-and-home series, with Nebraska hosting on Oct. 30, 2032, and then traveling to South Bend on Oct. 29, 2033.
Nebraska and Notre Dame have met 16 times before, and the Huskers hold an 8-7-1 edge in the series. The last two meetings went Nebraska’s way, with a 27-24 win in 2000 and a 27-10 victory in 2001 when Eric Crouch was at quarterback.
There was also a new look at where Nebraska stands financially in college football. The Athletic’s free report on Power 4 roster spending placed the Huskers 17th overall.
Ohio State and Oregon were at the top, while Michigan, Indiana and USC were also ahead of Nebraska. Within the Big Ten, Nebraska checked in sixth.
The spending figure puts Nebraska in the same range as programs like Clemson, Georgia, Auburn and South Carolina. The Athletic reported that the Huskers spent between $31-35 million on this roster, while Boston College spent $8 million.
