Nebraska’s depth chart for Bowling Green doesn’t look all that different from the one the Huskers carried into the opener, but one fresh name stands out.
Mac Markway is on it now, and that addition comes with a comeback story that already has Matt Rhule talking about a bigger role ahead. Markway, who has been working at defensive end, is one of the new faces on the list as Nebraska gets ready for Bowling Green.
"Mac Markway, coming off of three torn ACLs and been here for two years, hasn't played," Rhule said. "His role will, I think, significantly be amplified each week. I think you'll see him continue to move forward."
Markway saw six snaps in Nebraska’s 49-21 win over Ohio, and his presence on the depth chart reflects the early impression he has made.
Rhule said the same kind of thing about Demitrius Bell, who was also on the opening-week depth chart. Bell’s workload was limited in the first game, but he still got on the field for seven snaps, the fifth-most among Nebraska wide receivers.
"His role was smaller in this (first) game, but I think you'll see his role continue to be amplified," Rhule said. "I think D Bell is a fantastic player."
Another young player Rhule highlighted Monday was true freshman cornerback Danny Odem. The former five-star recruit played 12 snaps against Ohio, and Rhule expects that number to keep climbing.
"I think you'll see him continue to play more and more and more," Rhule said of the former five-star recruit.
The rest of the depth chart looks largely unchanged as Nebraska tries to get to 2-0.

Jamal Rule made a loud first impression in his Nebraska debut, turning Nebraskas Week 1 win over Ohio into a showcase for what the freshman running back can do with the ball in his hands.
