Huskers Reveal Spring Game Date With One Big Change This Year

Nebraska fans can mark their calendars as the annual Spring Game returns with fresh faces, big stakes, and a full weekend of Husker action.

With spring football right around the corner in Lincoln, Nebraska fans can officially start the countdown. The Huskers announced that their annual Spring Game, presented by FNBO, is set for Saturday, March 28, with an 11 a.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium. And yes, that means we’re just 10 days away from the start of spring practices.

This year’s Red-White scrimmage will mark the conclusion of Nebraska’s 15-practice spring slate under head coach Matt Rhule, now entering his fourth season leading the program. The first workout is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, and while it’s just practice, there’s no shortage of storylines to track.

Leading the intrigue? Transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who brings a fresh dynamic to the offense.

All eyes will be on how quickly he can settle into the system and build chemistry with his new teammates. On the other side of the ball, defensive coordinator Rob Aurich will be unveiling a retooled unit featuring some new faces that could make an immediate impact.

Spring games are rarely about the final score - it’s about first impressions, and this one should offer plenty.

The early kickoff time isn’t just about football logistics - it’s also a nod to a full weekend of Husker athletics. Fans making the trip to Lincoln can catch a full day of action, with Nebraska baseball hosting Indiana and softball squaring off against UCLA. First pitch for both is slated for 2 p.m., giving fans the rare chance to bounce from football to the diamond without missing a beat.

And if the stars align for Husker men’s basketball? Well, there’s a chance that same weekend could coincide with an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Athletic Director Troy Dannen joked about that possibility recently on Sports Nightly, calling it a “first world problem” - but one he’d happily welcome.

“If you can play the Spring Game at 11 a.m., let fans get out and watch baseball and softball, then get home and watch the Huskers fight to get into the Final Four - that would be an ideal situation for all of us,” Dannen said.

As for tickets, they officially go on sale Thursday, February 19. Donors will get first dibs on East Balcony Club seats starting at 9 a.m., with the public on-sale beginning at noon via Huskers.com. General admission seating will begin in the East and West Stadium lower sections.

Here’s the breakdown on pricing:

  • Feb. 19-March 22: $5 general admission, $10 for club seats
  • March 23-27: $10 general admission, $20 for club seats
  • Game Day (March 28): $20 general admission, $30 for club seats

Gates open at 9:30 a.m. on game day, and if history is any guide, expect a sea of red and white to flood Memorial Stadium. The Spring Game is more than just a scrimmage - it’s a celebration of what’s to come. With new faces, fresh competition, and a football-hungry fanbase ready to turn the page to 2026, this one should be well worth the early start.
