Nebraska is in the hunt for one of the Midwest’s top rising linemen - and they’ve officially made the cut.
Kyler Kuhn, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound force out of St. Pius X (Mo.), announced his top five schools on Friday evening, and the Huskers are right in the mix alongside Missouri, Penn State, Oregon, and Iowa. For a program looking to build a dominant offensive front, landing a player like Kuhn could be a major step forward.
Kuhn, a four-star prospect ranked No. 197 nationally in the 2027 class by 247Sports, has been a name to watch for some time now. And if his recent recruiting visits are any indication, he’s doing his homework.
He wrapped up junior day visits to both Missouri and Nebraska in late January, following an earlier stop at Penn State. These aren’t just fly-by visits either - Kuhn is putting in the time to get a feel for each program.
His most recent trip to Lincoln came on January 31, where he got the full Husker experience. That included taking in a Nebraska basketball game and spending time with new offensive line coach Geep Wade - a key figure in the Huskers’ recruiting efforts.
This wasn’t Kuhn’s first time in Lincoln, either. He’s made multiple game day visits over the past two seasons, and it’s clear the staff has made a strong impression.
“The staff is always open to talk to me and give me advice about the recruiting process,” Kuhn said last May. “I love the staff Nebraska has, from the head coach all the way to the nutritionists. They are all genuine people.”
That kind of connection matters - especially for a player with options. And Kuhn has plenty.
Beyond the football field, Kuhn brings a competitive edge that shows up in more than just pads and cleats. He’s also an accomplished wrestler, having claimed the Missouri Class 3 state title at 285 pounds as a sophomore with a 37-3 record. That kind of power, balance, and leverage translates well to the trenches, where footwork and hand placement are just as important as raw strength.
For Nebraska, making Kuhn’s top five is a big win in itself - but the work is far from over. With blue-blood programs like Penn State and Oregon also in the mix, the race for Kuhn is heating up. Still, with a strong relationship already in place and continued face time with key coaches, the Huskers have positioned themselves as serious contenders.
Kuhn’s recruitment is still in its early stages, but he’s already shown he’s taking a thoughtful, measured approach. And with his blend of talent, toughness, and versatility, whichever program lands him won’t just be getting a top-tier lineman - they’ll be getting a tone-setter.
