DeMarcus Lawrence is making himself right at home in Seattle - and making a serious impact while he’s at it.
The longtime Dallas Cowboy turned Seahawk was everywhere in Sunday’s 26-0 shutout win over the Minnesota Vikings. Lawrence didn’t just show up on the stat sheet - he changed the game.
Twice. First, with pressure that led to a pick-six, and later with a chase-down forced fumble that had his coach raving.
Let’s start with the first big moment. Late in the second quarter, the Vikings were facing a fourth down, and rookie quarterback Max Brosmer was trying to make something happen.
Lawrence had other plans. He got into the backfield and forced Brosmer into a hurried throw - one that ended up in the hands of Ernest Jones IV, who took it 85 yards the other way for a touchdown.
That’s not just a turnover - that’s a backbreaker. And it all started with Lawrence.
Then came the play that had Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald practically speechless. Aaron Jones Sr. had broken free and looked like he was about to pick up a chunk of yardage.
But out of nowhere, Lawrence came flying in from the opposite side of the field and punched the ball loose. Ty Okada recovered, but it was Lawrence’s relentless pursuit that made it happen.
“Probably my new favorite play of all time,” Macdonald said afterward. “Just an incredible, incredible play.
I just saw a blur coming down and just violently attack the ball… He’s just an awesome guy and he’s tough as crap and he’s physical and competitive and just determined. That was like the ultimate relentless play.”
It’s the kind of effort that defines a veteran leader - and it’s exactly what Seattle was hoping for when they signed Lawrence to a three-year deal worth up to $42 million this offseason. After 11 seasons in Dallas, Lawrence has found a fresh start in the Pacific Northwest, and he’s making the most of it. Through 13 weeks, he’s racked up 31 total tackles and five sacks, and he’s already tied an NFL single-game record with two fumble recovery touchdowns in a November win over the Cardinals.
Lawrence isn’t the only former Boise State standout making noise this season. Here’s how other Broncos fared in Week 13 across the NFL:
- John Bates, Washington Commanders: Bates did a little bit of everything in a tight 27-26 overtime loss to the Broncos. The tight end caught two passes for nine yards, recovered a fumble, and even recorded a tackle - a reminder that he’s one of those gritty, do-it-all guys who finds ways to contribute beyond the box score.
- Ezra Cleveland, Jacksonville Jaguars: Cleveland continues to be a steady presence on the Jaguars’ offensive line. He started at left guard in a dominant 25-3 win over the Titans, helping pave the way for a balanced offensive attack.

- George Holani, Seattle Seahawks: Holani was placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury and didn’t suit up in the Seahawks’ win over Minnesota. A tough break for the rookie, who had been carving out a role before the setback.
- Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders: In the first game since the Raiders moved on from Chip Kelly, the offense struggled to find rhythm in a 31-14 loss to the Chargers. Jeanty had 15 carries for 31 yards and added six catches for 30 more - not flashy numbers, but he continues to be a reliable outlet in a tough offensive environment.
- Scott Matlock, Los Angeles Chargers: Matlock didn’t record any stats in the win over the Raiders, but the Chargers’ defense as a whole showed up in a big way, limiting Las Vegas to just 14 points.
- Jeremy McNichols, Washington Commanders: McNichols made the most of his touches, finishing with six carries for 30 yards and adding a 15-yard kickoff return. He also recovered a fumble in the loss to Denver.
- Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills: Shakir had one catch for five yards in the Bills’ 26-7 win over the Steelers. The second-year receiver has been a solid depth piece in Buffalo’s receiving corps.

- JL Skinner, Denver Broncos: Skinner recorded one tackle in the Broncos’ overtime win over Washington. The rookie safety continues to earn reps in a crowded secondary.
But the headline this week belongs to DeMarcus Lawrence. He’s not just playing well - he’s playing with purpose. And in Seattle, that kind of energy is contagious.
