Andrew Marshall Impresses Rob Aurich With Leadership and Unseen Potential

Discover how Andrew Marshall's leadership and dedication are set to inspire the Blackshirts in 2026 under the guidance of his seasoned mentor.

Nebraska's defensive coordinator, Rob Aurich, is reuniting with a familiar face in Andrew Marshall, a player he once recruited from Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California. Now, Aurich has the opportunity to coach a more seasoned version of Marshall, who has developed into a key asset for the Huskers.

Aurich's initial recruitment of Marshall proved to be a savvy move. Their time together at Idaho left a lasting impression, and both coach and player are eager to work together again as Aurich takes the helm of the Blackshirts in 2026. With Marshall returning as a starting cornerback, Aurich couldn't be more pleased.

Reflecting on Marshall's growth, Aurich said, "Seeing how he's matured over the years has been impressive. When I first met Andrew, he was just a kid. Now, he's a leader."

Marshall is stepping into a leadership role with confidence. His selection as one of two Huskers to address the media before spring practice speaks volumes about his standing on the team. Joining him at the podium was senior center Justin Evans.

Coming off a strong 2025 season, Marshall is driven to elevate his game even further. His dedication and insights into his teammates highlight his commitment to the team's success.

"He's relentless. No matter the challenge, he's ready to tackle it head-on. You can see his determination in every workout," Aurich noted, underscoring Marshall's work ethic and hunger for success.
