Brandon Cleveland, the former NC State defensive lineman, is on the brink of realizing his NFL dreams, having earned an invitation to the NFL Combine. A two-year starter for the Wolfpack, Cleveland made a significant impact with 36 tackles, including seven for loss, two sacks, and three quarterback hurries in the 2025 season. His performance earned him a solid defensive grade of 75.2 from PFF, catching the attention of several NFL teams.
Cleveland expressed excitement about his interactions with teams like the Saints, Browns, and Eagles. "It was pretty good -- going over plays and seeing how I learn," he shared, emphasizing the mutual interest between him and the teams.
As Cleveland prepares for the next level, he’s clear about the qualities he brings to the table. "Just relentless and violent," he described his style.
Known for his run-stopping ability, he’s also eager to enhance his pass-rushing skills. "I think I'm very violent with my hands, but I definitely take it to the next level."
Primarily a nose tackle at NC State, Cleveland believes that’s where he excels but is open to playing any position that benefits his future team. "I think I'm best at 0 (technique)," he said, highlighting the importance of a strong middle in the defensive line.
Off the field, Cleveland is committed to giving back to his community. "I love to give back," he said, acknowledging the support he received throughout his journey.
Reflecting on his college experience, Cleveland praised NC State as an excellent destination for transfer players, citing the supportive coaching staff led by Coach Doeren and Coach Wiles.
With his departure, Cleveland sees potential in teammates Isaiah Shirley and Josiah Victor to fill the gap. "Isaiah always kept his head down and worked hard.
I mentored Josiah a little bit. He's a listener, good player, and does the right things."
Cleveland also expressed gratitude for the guidance he received from DD Hoggard, Director of Student-Athlete Welfare, who played a pivotal role in his success at NC State. "He's like a father figure to me," Cleveland said, underscoring the importance of mentorship in his development.
As Cleveland steps toward the NFL, his journey is a testament to hard work, versatility, and the community that supported him along the way.
