NBA Star Still Bitter About Divisive Play Decades Later

NBA icon Baron Davis shares his most cherished Raiders moment on Maxx Crosby's podcast, revealing deep loyalty and vibrant fandom for the storied NFL team.

The Raiders have long been an iconic team, attracting a league of high-profile fans no matter where they called home. Among their devoted followers is none other than former NBA star Baron Davis.

This L.A. native grew up rooting for the Silver and Black during their tenure in Los Angeles. Davis, a two-time NBA all-star and stalwart defender on the court, carved out a 15-year basketball career with teams like the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders' relentless defensive end, shares Davis's love for basketball, which naturally led to a budding friendship between Crosby and the NBA player he admired growing up. Davis joined Crosby on his podcast, The Rush, to stroll down memory lane, sharing tales from his days as a fervent Raiders fan and highlighting his top Raider moment.

“Bo Jackson, Monday Night, when he took off for two 90-yard runs," Davis recounted. "I wanted to be Bo Jackson.

At first, I thought I wanted to be Marcus Allen, then I saw Bo, and I was like, ‘Man, excuse me, who are you?’ We got one.

Just don’t let him play baseball. Don’t play baseball in Kansas City.

The Dodgers, we should have finessed some s— back then, dude.”

Davis didn’t shy away from expressing his biggest letdown with his beloved Raiders, a sentiment shared widely among the Raider Nation. “When Charles Woodson stripped Tom Brady, and that was a f—ing sack," he recalled about the controversial 'Tuck Rule' incident from 2002.

"That just made me go all the way in, hella hard Raider fan. I was like, ‘Bro, uh-uh.’

They cheated the Raiders. I’m Raiders for life, dude.

I hate everybody. And so, it’s just been hate, hate, hate, hate on the entire NFL.

I like the players, but if you play on a different team, hate. I can’t even go visit other teams; I start cringing.”

Raiders fans are renowned for their unwavering passion, and Davis exemplifies this fervor, spilling his love for the Raiders into every conversation. Even for someone as high-profile as Davis, the connection to his favorite NFL franchise burns strong, sometimes even venturing into the realm of fiery disdain for opposing teams.
