Tyson Jost is sticking around Nashville.
The Predators announced on 09/28/2026 that Jost has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the club, locking in a return after a camp that apparently did exactly what he wanted it to do. The contract comes with a league-minimum $850K NHL salary, a $475K AHL salary, and a $500K guarantee, per PuckPedia. Nashville also placed Jost on waivers the same day, and he was the only player to hit the waiver wire.
That finish came after Jost made it clear why he came to camp in the first place. He told Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean that he took a PTO with the Predators specifically because he was very interested in staying in Nashville, and after a strong camp and preseason, it appears he’s gotten his wish.
The path to this deal started earlier this month, when Nashville signed Jost to a professional try-out on 09/08/2026 for its 2026-27 training camp, per PuckPedia. He had spent all of the 2025-26 season in the Predators lineup, playing on a one-year, two-way contract originally signed with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2025.
Nashville claimed Jost off waivers from Carolina in October 2025 and used him in 69 games last season. He finished with 16 points, 30 penalty minutes, and a minus-21.
Those numbers weren’t flashy, but they were an improvement for the 28-year-old, who split the 2024-25 season between the Hurricanes’ NHL and AHL rosters. It was also the first time Jost appeared in more than half of an NHL season since 2022-23, when he put up 22 points in 59 games with the Buffalo Sabres.
For the Predators, Jost remains a depth option in a group that could lean on KHL signee Vitali Pinchuk for a bottom-six role after several moves out this summer. If Pinchuk, who scored 66 points in 65 KHL games last season, doesn’t seize that spot, Jost gives Nashville a veteran fallback. He’ll also be competing with Alexander Kerfoot, Ross Colton, and top prospect Brady Martin for a full-time job in Nashville.
