The Nashville Predators have brought Tyson Jost back into the fold, signing the veteran forward to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season on Monday.
Jost had been in camp on a PTO after spending most of last season with Nashville. He played in 69 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, finishing with eight goals, eight assists and 16 points while posting a minus-21 rating. He averaged 12:25 of ice time per game.
PuckPedia reports the deal carries an $850,000 cap hit at the NHL level. It will pay Jost $475,000 per year in the AHL, with a guaranteed minimum of $500,000 for the season. PuckPedia also reports that he will be placed on waivers after signing.
Jost, 28, was selected No. 10 overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Draft. He is heading into his 11th NHL season and has appeared in 564 regular-season games, producing 69 goals and 96 assists for 165 points.
His return gives Nashville another body for a forward group that has been reshaped under new president of hockey operations Chris MacFarland. After moving over from his previous job as Avalanche GM, MacFarland quickly added Ross Colton and Jack Drury from Colorado to bolster the depth. Mavrik Bourque, Adam Edstrom, Nils Hoglander and Alex Kerfoot are also among the new faces joining the core of Filip Forsberg, Ryan O’Reilly, Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault.
The Predators are trying to bounce back after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last two regular seasons. Nashville was the league’s biggest disappointment in 2024-25, and a poor start wrecked its 2025-26 season, though a late surge kept the team in the playoff conversation deep into the year.
