Nic Hague’s offseason just got a lot brighter.
On August 11, the Predators defenseman’s wife, Ally, announced that she is cancer-free after a 15-month battle with colon cancer, which she was diagnosed with at 26. She shared the news on her personal Instagram account, posting a carousel of photos that included her ringing the bell and celebrating the end of treatment.
In her caption, Ally laid out just how much she has been through and what the fight taught her:
"15 months of this cancer battle, 5 procedures, 2 major surgeries, 6 rounds of chemo, 1 round of IVF, countless scans, and 10 rounds of immunotherapy left. Today - August 11th I finally get to say that I beat cancer ✨ Cancer has taught me to have more patience & strength, and to love myself through all the changes and embrace all the simple things in life. The hardest & scariest chapter of my life is officially behind me."
She also thanked the people who supported her along the way, including everyone who prayed for her and sent food, flowers, and other kindnesses. Ally gave a special shoutout to her care team at Vanderbilt, and said she feels lucky to be surrounded by the best people as she reaches this milestone.
Back in March, during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the Nashville Predators featured Nic Hague, Ally Hague, and Dr. Eng from Vanderbilt Health in a conversation about Ally’s diagnosis and recovery. In that video, she used her own experience to deliver a message aimed at viewers who might be putting off a checkup.
"You're never too young to be diagnosed with cancer, unfortunately. I think just like knowing your family history is very important.
And, you know, don't feel like embarrassed to go and get checked out. So, I just want people to like listen to their body and advocate for themselves."
That message resonated far beyond Nashville. Fans from multiple NHL teams responded warmly to the Predators video, thanking Ally for sharing her story and helping raise awareness.
