Predators Fans Finally Have A Clearer Read On Yegor Surin

Agent Dan Milstein reveals promising developments for prospect Yegor Surin, foreshadowing a significant move to the Nashville Predators at season's end.

Dan Milstein gave Nashville Predators fans a fresh reason to keep an eye on Yegor Surin.

The veteran NHL agent, who has been plenty visible on social media and in the public spotlight, appeared on Jeff Marek and David Pagnotta’s DFO Insider podcast after Nikita Kucherov’s trade request sent the hockey world into a frenzy. While the conversation centered on that situation, Milstein also touched on some of his other clients, and Surin’s name came up in a way Predators fans will like.

“At the conclusion of this year, he will be signing and joining the Nashville Predators. They’re super excited to see him. Hopefully, if everything goes well with the big club at the beginning of next season.”

That lines up with what Surin has already said about Nashville. At this summer’s development camp, he spoke highly of the organization and made it clear he wanted one more year in the KHL before trying to become a full-time pro in North America.

Surin is coming off a steady climb with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl over a four-year KHL run. After a quiet start as an 18-year-old, he put up 37 points in 57 games last season. This year, he has 13 points in his first 21 games and is tracking toward another career-best campaign.

There’s a reason Milstein sounds optimistic about how Surin will fit in once he gets to Nashville. The 6-foot-2 center brings size, speed, and a willingness to play through contact. He isn’t one of those smaller Russian prospects who needs extra sheltering, and his game is built to handle the pace and physical edge of North American hockey.

Surin impressed enough at development camp that some fans wanted him to make the jump a year earlier. But getting Russian players out of contracts is rarely simple, and that leaves his NHL debut projected for the 2027-28 season.

Predators May Have Found An Early Difference-Maker In Adam Edstrom

The Predators have gotten an early jolt from Adam Edstrom, whose arrival has quickly started to look like more than just a depth move. Since coming over from the Rangers, he has carved out a steady role in Nashvilles lineup and has become a useful piece on the penalty kill while also adding timely offense.

What has stood out is how seamlessly Edstrom has fit alongside fellow offseason additions Jack Drury and Ross Colton, giving the Predators a line that has brought both energy and production. For a team always looking for reliable two-way help up front, his early impact has been hard to miss, and it has only added to the sense that Nashville may have found an immediate difference-maker. Predators May Have To Pay Big For This Blue Line Upgrade

The Predators are still looking for ways to sharpen their blue line, and Simon Edvinsson has become a name worth watching as the December 1 deadline gets closer. The 23-year-old restricted free agent remains unsigned by Detroit, and his recent presence in Nashville has only added to the buzz around a possible move.

For a team trying to improve on defense, Edvinsson checks a lot of boxes on paper, which is why the speculation has picked up around him. Any deal, though, is expected to come at a steep price, and Nashville may have to weigh how much of its future it is willing to part with to land a player who could change the look of the back end. Predators Get A Huge Avalanche Test With Lineup Intrigue Building

The Predators head into Thursday nights matchup with Colorado carrying a little momentum and a lot of intrigue. Nashville has won two straight, and the visit from the Avalanche offers an early measuring stick against one of the teams it is chasing in the division. With a tough stretch still ahead, this is the kind of game that can tell the Predators plenty about where they stand.

The lineup picture is still unsettled, with Jonathan Marchessault working his way back from injury and Nicolas Hagues status also in the mix. Marchessault was the only Nashville player not on the ice for practice Wednesday, leaving the Predators with at least one notable question as they try to put together their best group for a matchup that could reshape the standings race.
