Cole Caufield Stuns NHL Fans With Incredible Achievement This Week

Cole Caufield's impressive performances have earned him NHL accolades and a historic milestone for the Canadiens.

Montréal - NHL Update

Cole Caufield of the Montreal Canadiens is turning heads and lighting up the ice. The 25-year-old forward has been named the NHL's Third Star of the Week for his outstanding performance ending March 22, 2026.

Caufield racked up an impressive eight points over three games, with four goals and four assists. His week was highlighted by an overtime winner against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, marking his 40th goal of the season-a milestone he’s reached for the first time in his career. This achievement makes him the first Canadien to hit the 40-goal mark since Vincent Damphousse did it back in the 1993-94 season.

Even in a tough loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, Caufield managed to snag an assist, keeping his momentum going. He capped off the week with a dazzling five-point performance, including a hat trick, against the New York Islanders on Saturday. This was his second hat trick of the season and the third of his career.

With 43 goals this season, Caufield is sitting pretty in second place in the league's goal-scoring race, just behind Nathan MacKinnon, who has 45. If Caufield keeps this pace, he’s not just playing the game; he’s redefining it for the Canadiens and their fans.
