Mizzou Tigers Sweep New Haven With Dominant Performance

Mizzou baseball dominates New Haven with a powerhouse combination of pitching prowess and explosive offense, setting the stage for their upcoming home-opener.

The Mizzou Tigers roared into the weekend with a commanding sweep over the New Haven Chargers, marking their second three-game series win of the season, all thanks to a run-rule streak that’s turning heads.

Friday at Terry Park, Missouri kicked things off with a 12-2 victory in just seven innings, thanks to a blend of explosive offense and stellar pitching. Javyn Pimental was the star on the mound, setting a personal best with ten strikeouts over five innings, surrendering just one run on three hits.

The Tigers’ offense came alive in the fourth inning, piling on five runs with two outs. Isaiah Frost’s clutch two-run triple and Tyler Macon’s RBI double were pivotal, with Macon leading the charge at 3-for-4, scoring four times and driving in two.

Missouri added extra runs in the fifth and sixth, sealing the deal in the seventh when Pierre Seals’ two-RBI hit activated the run rule.

Freshman Luke Sullivan was sharp in relief, delivering 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, skillfully navigating a bases-loaded jam in the sixth. Junior Luke Fricker made his debut, getting one out while allowing a run on two hits.

On Saturday, the Tigers kept the momentum with another seven-inning run-rule win, 17-5. Sophomore Josh McDevitt, now 2-0, was solid on the mound, allowing two runs on two hits across five innings, striking out a career-high seven.

The offense was relentless, with Macon continuing his hot streak, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Freshman Leo Humbert shined in his first start, contributing two hits, three runs, and two RBIs, while Frost and Mateo Serna added multiple hits.

In the sixth, freshman Juliomar Campos made an impact off the bench with a bases-clearing double, followed by Eric Maisonet’s RBI single, pushing the lead to 17-3. Freshmen Keagan Kohlhoff and Eli Skidmore wrapped it up in the seventh, sealing the series win.

Sunday’s finale was no different, as Missouri rolled to a 16-2 victory, completing the sweep. After conceding a run in the first, the Tigers responded emphatically with an eight-run bottom half, highlighted by Sam Parker’s two-run double and Macon’s bases-clearing triple.

Lefty Brady Kehlenbrink secured his second win, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out a career-high seven. Missouri added runs consistently, pulling away decisively in the fifth and sixth. Impressively, Mizzou’s starters have gone at least five innings in all seven games this season.

Eric Maisonet launched his first home run as a Tiger in the fifth, and the bullpen duo of Juan Villarreal and Ian Lohse combined for two scoreless, no-hit innings with five strikeouts, cementing the sweep.

The Tigers outscored New Haven 45-9 over the weekend, improving to 5-2 for the year. With road dominance under their belt, Missouri looks to carry this momentum into a big home week, starting with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday, followed by a weekend series against North Dakota State.
