Mizzou Tigers Dominate with 12th Straight Win in Stunning Series Sweep

Mizzou baseball extends its sizzling streak to 12 wins with dominant pitching and explosive offense, setting a confident tone as SEC play looms.

The Missouri Tigers put on a show Sunday afternoon, showcasing a blend of dominant pitching and relentless offense in a commanding 10-0 run-rule victory over the UIC Flames. This win completed a four-game sweep and marked back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2017, extending their winning streak to 12 games as they gear up for SEC play.

Left-hander Brady Kehlenbrink was the star on the mound, setting an early tone by striking out four batters in the first two innings. He wrapped up his day with a career-high 11 strikeouts, allowing just three hits over six scoreless innings to improve his record to 3-0.

Offensively, the Tigers wasted no time. Tyler Macon got things rolling by walking, advancing on a throwing error, and scoring the first run. Jase Woita then smashed a two-run homer in the first inning, his fourth of the season, setting the stage for an offensive explosion.

Missouri broke the game wide open in the third inning. Kaden Peer launched a home run to deep right field, his first of the season, followed by a solo shot from Cam Benson.

Pierre Seals capped the sequence with another homer, marking three consecutive home runs and energizing the Tigers' dugout. This power surge pushed Missouri’s lead to 5-0, marking the third time this season they’ve hit back-to-back homers, but the first time with three in a row.

Benson now boasts a home run in three straight games.

The Tigers kept the pressure on in the fourth inning with smart situational play. Chris Patterson laid down a bunt single, Mateo Serna reached base multiple times, advancing runners effectively, and Eric Maisonet reached on a fielding error, stole second, and scored.

Woita continued his stellar performance, driving in his third run to further extend the lead.

Missouri's fifth inning rally was the final blow. Singles from Benson and Seals set the stage before Mateo Serna drove Benson home with an RBI single. A misplayed outfield ball allowed Seals to score, and Kam Durnin’s two-run single brought in Serna and Patterson, stretching the lead to 10-0.

With a comfortable lead, the Tigers rotated players, giving opportunities to Donovan Jordan and freshman Juliomar Campos, while Luke Fricker took over pitching duties in relief.

Thanks to Kehlenbrink’s standout performance and a relentless offensive attack, Missouri secured a convincing win, building crucial momentum as they prepare for the challenges of conference play.
