This impressive stretch has been fueled by timely hitting, standout pitching, and a dynamic young core.
The series kicked off with a bang on Friday, as senior pitcher Cierra Harrison led the charge with a masterful performance. Harrison tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four, securing her eighth win of the year.
Freshman Abby Carr and senior Kayley Lenger set the tone offensively with a leadoff double and an RBI single in the second inning. Sophomore Madison Uptegrove then took center stage, launching a solo homer in the fourth and adding an RBI triple in the sixth.
Carr closed the door with two scoreless innings for her second career save, sealing a 3-0 victory.
On Saturday, Missouri kept the momentum rolling with a 6-3 win, clinching the series. The Tigers erupted with a five-run first inning, capitalizing on tricky field conditions.
Freshman Sidney Forrester ignited the rally with her first career triple, followed by doubles from Abby Carr and Sophie Smith. Junior Stefania Abruscato added to the fireworks with a solo shot in the second, marking her 100th career hit.
Senior Courtney Donahue provided crucial relief, pitching three scoreless innings for the win, while Carr notched her third save.
The sweep was completed on Sunday with a 6-4 triumph, showcasing Missouri's resilience. Trailing 4-2 in the fifth, the Tigers roared back.
Abby Hay's infield single brought in a run, and Carr's two-run homer to center field flipped the script, giving Missouri a 5-4 lead. Claire Cahalan added insurance with a triple and scored on Addy Waits' RBI single in the sixth.
Abruscato's earlier two-run homer in the third capped off her stellar weekend. The pitching staff held strong, with Marissa McCann earning the win after three scoreless innings in relief.
