Missouri’s trip to SEC Media Days will lean on experience.
The Tigers announced Tuesday that junior linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez, senior left tackle Cayden Green and redshirt junior running back Jamal Roberts will represent the program at the preseason event, which runs Monday, July 20 through Thursday, July 23 in Tampa, Florida.
They’ll be joined by seventh-year head coach Eli Drinkwitz, who is scheduled as the second SEC head coach to step to the lectern. Drinkwitz is set to speak at 10:25 a.m. CT, and the event will air on SEC Network.
For all three players, it will be a first turn on the SEC Media Days stage.
Roberts enters the spotlight with one of Missouri’s biggest questions hanging over the 2026 season: what happens with Ahmad Hardy. Hardy was shot in the upper leg while attending a concert in May in Mississippi, and his status remains uncertain after he rushed for a program-record 1,649 yards last season. There is no timetable for a possible return, though Drinkwitz has said at offseason caravan stops that he may have a more concrete update to share in Tampa.
If Hardy is unavailable, Roberts would slide into the lead role in the backfield. He handled the No. 2 job last season and made the most of it, piling up 753 yards and six touchdowns on 6.1 yards per carry.
Green gives Missouri a proven presence at left tackle. The 6-foot-5, 324-pound Kansas City native has drawn plenty of attention as a possible Day 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, and Phil Steele named him a second-team preseason All-American. He also looks likely to land on the media’s preseason All-SEC team.
Rodriguez is another returning piece expected to carry more weight this fall. He was a key part of Missouri’s linebacker rotation last season and is now projected to help lead the defense. His 2025 line included 62 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four tackles for loss and seven pass breakups.
The common thread with Missouri’s three representatives is clear: all are returners with at least three seasons on campus. Roberts and Rodriguez began their college careers in Columbia, while Green arrived at Mizzou in 2024 after spending his true freshman season at Oklahoma.
