Mizzou's Cam Steed Stuns With Overtime Victory at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Missouri's wrestling team shines with two All-Americans, but faces hurdles in their push for a top-10 finish at the NCAA Championships.

Friday was a rollercoaster for Missouri at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, showcasing the highs and lows of competitive wrestling.

High Points: Cam Steed was the standout performer, clinching a thrilling overtime victory in the quarterfinals at 174 pounds.

His 9-2 win over Navy's Danny Wask not only propelled him into the semifinals but also secured him an All-American finish as a junior. Steed's performance was a masterclass in resilience and skill.

Challenges: Aeoden Sinclair, the 2-seed at 184 pounds, faced a tough quarterfinal matchup against Iowa's Angelo Ferrari, losing 4-1.

Despite taking multiple shots, Sinclair was outmaneuvered in a scramble during overtime. However, he bounced back with a 5-2 win over Franklin & Marshall's James Conway, earning his first All-American honors as a redshirt freshman.

Sinclair's ability to regroup and secure his place in the top eight was impressive.

Setbacks: Evan Bates and Gage Walker, who had both caused upsets in the opening round, were unable to advance past Session 3, impacting Mizzou's overall team prospects. Their exits were a blow to the team’s aspirations.

Overall Standings: After two days, Missouri sits in 14th place with 26.5 team points. With Steed and Sinclair as All-Americans, the Tigers have maintained a streak of producing multiple All-Americans for 13 consecutive national tournaments.

Team Scores After Session 4: 1.

Penn State: 153 points (6 in finals, 2 wrestling back) 2.
