Mizzou Basketball Just Landed Another Major Piece For Its Future

Missouri basketball's 2027 recruitment class takes a big leap forward as four-star guard Devin Cleveland commits, positioning the Tigers among the nation's elite.

Missouri’s 2027 class just got a major lift.

Devin Cleveland, a four-star guard in the 2027 class, announced his commitment to Mizzou on Rivals’ commitment livestream, giving the Tigers another high-end piece in a group that already includes four-star guard Scottie Adkinson and four-star forward Cameron Barnes. With Cleveland on board, Missouri’s 2027 class now sits at No. 3 nationally in 247sports’ team rankings.

Cleveland brings plenty of national shine with him. According to 247sports’ composite rating, he is the No. 29 player in the country, the No. 7 combo guard and the No. 2 player in Indiana.

Missouri beat out Michigan and TCU for his pledge, and both of those schools had hosted him for official visits in the last 30 days. The Tigers offered him on May 15, 2026, and he made his first official trip to Columbia on Oct.

The 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard plays for La Lumiere on the EYBL Scholastic circuit and suits up for Brad Beal Elite on the AAU scene. That’s the same program that once featured former Mizzou big Jeremiah Tilmon and St. Louis-area standout Jayson Tatum.

On the floor, Cleveland’s game is built around scoring. He’s on the smaller side, but he can create offense both from the perimeter and around the rim. In a prior interview with Rivals, he described the edge he’s trying to bring.

“I feel like I’m a winner,” Cleveland said in a prior interview with Rivals. “That’s what I’ve been trying to prove this EYBL season.

You know, the past couple of years, I haven’t really had much success in winning games, so just coming over here with Bradley Beal, their identity is to win. So, I’m just trying to be a leader.

I can score the basketball, and I’m a willing passer. I try to get my teammates involved every game."

He also said he takes parts of his game from NBA guards Devin Booker and Jeremiah Fears.

“I’m going to be looking a lot at the fit. I want to play for a coach who believes in me and believes in my game, and that it will fit in with their system," Cleveland told Rivals.

"Really, I just want to win. That’s all I want to do at the end of the day.”

Cleveland, Barnes and Adkinson won’t arrive in Columbia until the 2027-28 season, but Missouri’s upcoming schedule is already set. The Tigers open 2026-27 at home against Cleveland State at 7 p.m.

Nov. 3 at Mizzou Arena. Before that, they’ll play road exhibitions at Kansas State on Oct. 23 and UNLV on Oct.

Mizzou Just Added Another Guard Worth Watching In Dennis Gates' Plan

Missouri has added another piece to its future backcourt with the commitment of Devin Cleveland, a four-star combo guard from Chicago who picked the Tigers for the 2027 class. Cleveland brings the kind of profile that tends to draw attention early, with the scouting report pointing to his skills, physical tools and the potential role he could grow into once he reaches Columbia. For Missouri, it is another sign that Gates and his staff are staying active on the recruiting trail and trying to line up pieces well ahead of time, even if the real payoff is still a ways off. Mizzou Cleared Most Injury Doubts Before A Huge Ole Miss Test

Missouri got a much cleaner injury picture than it had been carrying into Saturdays matchup with No. 9 Ole Miss. On the final availability report before the game, the Tigers listed only eight players as limited, a group that included linebacker Jeremiah Beasley and tight end Brett Norfleet as game-time decisions, while six players were ruled out. Everyone else who had previously been tagged questionable or doubtful was cleared to play.

For a team heading into one of its biggest tests of the season, that kind of late-week clarity matters. The SECs reporting system is designed to keep the pregame picture accurate, with penalties attached to mistakes, so Missouris final update gave a more reliable look at who could be available when the Tigers and Rebels kicked off. It also left just enough uncertainty around a couple of key names to keep the attention on the sideline right up to game time. [Read more 🡒]
