Joe Tessitore didn’t ease into Saturday night in Austin. He went full throttle, and Texas gave him the kind of play that lets a broadcaster really let it rip.
Late in the first half of Mississippi State-Texas, Bulldogs quarterback AJ Swann took a shotgun snap on 2nd-and-7 from the Longhorns’ 34-yard line. After linebacker Rasheem Biles got to him, Swann lost the ball, and the loose football bounced twice before defensive tackle Maraad Watson pounced on it. Watson then turned the mistake into a 61-yard fumble return touchdown, and Tessitore’s call matched the moment.
“Ball is out! The ball is out, and it’s in the hands of [Maraad] Watson!”
Tessitore exclaimed as Watson raced up the sideline with a convoy of blockers. “Three-hundred-and-thirty-three-pound Maraad Watson!
Like a tractor-trailer going through the Texas night… get that guy some oxygen!”

The touchdown was the biggest highlight of Texas’ 31-3 win over Mississippi State, but Tessitore’s delivery drew plenty of attention in its own right. Fans were quick to praise the broadcast call on social media.

Eli Drinkwitz Just Gave Missouri Fans A New Reason To Worry
Florida States coaching change has quickly put a familiar name back into the rumor mill, and Missouri fans have reason to pay attention. After the Seminoles fired Mike Norvell following a loss that left them at 3-5, ESPN mentioned Eli Drinkwitz as a potential candidate for the opening, adding another layer to a situation Tigers supporters would rather not see develop.
Drinkwitz has built a strong case to stay put in Columbia, going 51-31 at Missouri and guiding the program to at least eight wins in each of the last three seasons. Still, whenever a Power Four job opens up, the speculation starts fast, and this one has enough weight to make people around Missouri wonder how long the conversation will linger. [Read more 🡒]
Mizzou Beat Arkansas Again But One Problem Still Wont Go Away
Missouri kept the Battle Line Trophy right where it has lived for the past half-decade, rolling past Arkansas 34-10 for a fifth straight win in the rivalry. It was not a clean start, but the Tigers settled in and leaned on a defense that flipped the game with a touchdown after a bad snap by the Razorbacks, then got a boost from the return of All-American tailback Ahmad Hardy.
Jamal Roberts also cleared 1,000 rushing yards for the season, another sign that Missouris ground game still has plenty of life. Even so, the Tigers left with the same nagging issue that has hovered over them for much of the year, and it is the kind of problem that could matter a lot more once the competition gets stiffer. LSU Still Has National Buzz With A Brutal SEC Test Ahead
Danny Kanells latest top 12 after Week 9 still reflects just how crowded the national picture has become, with Miami and Utah sitting at the top and Georgia leading the SEC at No. 3. The conference remains heavily represented near the top, with five SEC teams in the mix, and that kind of depth means every weekend can reshuffle the order in a hurry.
For Missouri fans, the broader takeaway is that the leagues next stretch carries real weight beyond one ranking update. Upcoming SEC matchups should have plenty to say about who stays in the hunt and who slips, especially with the conferences top teams trying to hold position while others keep pressing for a climb.
