Dane Olmstead Stuns Fans With His Commitment Decision to Missouri

Missouri lands top punting talent Dane Olmstead for 2027, boosting their special teams with a dual-sport star known for his power and precision.

Missouri has just bolstered its 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of Dane Olmstead, a standout punter from Freesburg, Illinois. The Tigers initially extended an offer to Olmstead back in December, when Erik Link was the special teams coordinator. The interest didn't wane with the transition to John Papuchis, who took over the role in January.

Olmstead's junior season stats speak volumes about his talent. He averaged 42 yards per punt and showcased his versatility by going 5-of-6 on field goals, with a long of 44 yards, and maintained a perfect record on extra points. His skills have earned him a spot as the No. 4 punter and No. 16 kicker in the country, according to Kohl's Kicking.

Olmstead had the chance to experience the electric atmosphere at Missouri during last season's game against South Carolina. Reflecting on his visit, he described the game as the most exciting he's attended, highlighting the passionate fan base and the unforgettable moment when the entire stadium sang along to "Mr. Brightside."

The offer from Missouri was a significant milestone in Olmstead's recruitment journey. "I was beyond excited," he shared, calling it a dream come true.

Beyond the gridiron, Olmstead is also a force in wrestling. He clinched the 1A, 215-pound state championship in Illinois, boasting a 39-4 record during his junior season. This dual-sport prowess underscores his athletic versatility and competitive spirit.
