Mizzou Falls Short Against Resilient Razorbacks
After a grueling double-overtime thriller against Alabama, you might think Arkansas would be running on fumes. But John Calipari’s Razorbacks had other plans, bouncing back with a determined 94-86 victory over the Missouri Tigers.
Missouri put up a fight, especially with Mark Mitchell leading the charge. Mitchell dazzled with 26 points and eight assists, while Trent Pierce chipped in 22.
The Tigers were efficient, shooting 55.4% from the field and improving their free-throw game, hitting 73.9% of their attempts. Four players reached double figures, showing depth in their lineup.
Yet, the Razorbacks were just a notch better. Despite shooting slightly lower at 52.5%, they were lethal from beyond the arc, sinking 44.4% of their three-pointers compared to Mizzou’s 33.3%.
Arkansas also capitalized on extra opportunities, committing five fewer turnovers and snagging four more offensive rebounds. Those extra possessions allowed them to take more shots and free throws than the Tigers.
Mizzou managed to hang tough against Arkansas’ high-octane offense, which averages 89.8 points per game. The Tigers even held an eight-point lead in the first half. However, Arkansas shifted the momentum with a decisive 23-9 run, showcasing why they boast a top-5 point differential in the SEC at plus-11.7.
In the end, while Missouri’s effort was commendable, Arkansas’ resilience and strategic edge secured them the win.
