Mississippi State added a major piece to its 2027 recruiting class when four-star small forward Jalen White chose the Bulldogs after an official visit to Starkville.
White announced his commitment to Rivals and picked Chris Jans’ program over Kansas and Washington. The 6-foot-7 wing is ranked No. 83 nationally in the 2027 class by the Rivals Industry Rankings, along with No. 21 at small forward and No. 8 among players from Arizona.
For Mississippi State, the commitment gives Jans another top-100 prospect and the second four-star in the class. White joins four-star point guard Jacques Mitchell, who is ranked No. 137 nationally. Mitchell, a 6-foot-6 guard from Scottsdale, Arizona, had already pledged to the Bulldogs earlier in the cycle, giving Mississippi State early traction in the recruiting race.
White’s trip to Starkville over the weekend helped swing the decision. The visit gave him a better feel for the program, the staff and the atmosphere around the team.
“What mattered most was the love they get from their fans,” White said of his visit. “I also liked the environment.”
That experience, along with the relationship he’d built with Mississippi State’s staff, pushed the Bulldogs ahead of the other finalists. White said the connection had been in place for months.
“I decided to commit because of the situation. It just feels right and where I need to be,” White said.
“I’ve been growing a relationship (with the coaching staff) since about July. It’s very good and the coach recruiting me was with our high school staff last year so we’re very connected.”
White comes to Starkville from Bella Vista Prep in Arizona, bringing size and length to the wing spot as Mississippi State keeps piecing together its future perimeter group. With White and Mitchell in the fold, Jans now has two highly regarded building blocks in the 2027 class.
White has also made it clear he wants to be more than a recruiting ranking. He’s focused on helping Mississippi State win and adding value once he gets on campus.
That’s the kind of mindset Mississippi State can use as it keeps shaping a roster for the SEC. Landing White over Kansas and Washington gives the Bulldogs another clean recruiting win and strengthens the foundation of the class as it continues to take shape.

Anthony Evans III Suddenly Faces A Painful Mississippi State Decision
Anthony Evans III has already had to navigate an uneven 2026 season, one interrupted by injury and reshaped by the loss of quarterback Kamario Taylor, and the ripple effects have reached beyond the weekly stat sheet. Even so, Evans has remained one of Mississippi States most important offensive pieces, the kind of player whose presence matters not just for this fall, but for whatever comes next in Starkville.
Now the larger question is whether this season becomes his last college run or merely a pause before one more year. Evans is weighing a possible return for a fifth collegiate season in 2027, though his path there is not simple, with his eligibility situation unresolved and his NFL plans still part of the equation. For Mississippi State, the answer could shape the offense again next year, and for Evans it adds a personal decision that is suddenly harder to ignore. [Read more 🡒]
Mississippi State Offense Faces A Brutal Test After Major QB Blow
Mississippi States offense heads into a daunting matchup with Texas carrying more than just the usual SEC pressure. The numbers have not been kind to the Bulldogs, with multiple analytics models slotting Texas well ahead of them and projecting a clear edge for the Longhorns as the game approaches. Add in the loss of quarterback Kamario Taylor, who underwent season-ending surgery, and the challenge only gets steeper for a Mississippi State team trying to steady itself on offense.
Jeff Lebby confirmed the surgery and framed it as a team decision, leaving the Bulldogs to sort through the fallout while preparing for one of their toughest tests of the season. Texas is dealing with injuries of its own, but Steve Sarkisian pointed to his teams recent win in spite of those issues, a reminder of how much depth the Longhorns can still bring to the table. For Mississippi State, the task is now less about matching the outside projections and more about finding a way to keep the game competitive under difficult circumstances. [Read more 🡒]
Mississippi State's Upset Chances Just Got Tied To Two Texas Stars
Mississippi State heads into Saturday night in Austin knowing Texas is still chasing a win to keep its College Football Playoff path clean, but the matchup may hinge as much on availability as talent. The Longhorns are waiting on two of their biggest defensive and offensive difference-makers, and both injuries trace back to recent SEC battles that have already tested Texas depth.
Cam Coleman is expected to be available after leaving the Ole Miss game with a shoulder injury, which gives Texas a needed boost on the perimeter. The bigger uncertainty may be on the other side of the ball, where edge rusher Colin Simmons is dealing with a high ankle sprain suffered against Florida, leaving one of the Longhorns' top pass-rush threats in question as Mississippi State looks for any opening it can find.
