Cole Cubelic spent a little time letting Week 4 settle in before unloading on the SEC.
The SEC Network analyst took to social media Sunday night with a full team-by-team rundown after a wild Saturday that featured ranked games, major swings and a month-ending jolt across the league. He didn’t hold back, either, giving quick-hit evaluations of all 16 SEC teams as September wrapped up.
A few of his strongest reactions were reserved for the weekend’s biggest winners. On Alabama’s win over South Carolina, Cubelic called it an “Impressive win (vs.) conference opponent,” while Florida’s surge into the top 10 after blasting Ole Miss drew this note: “Big one.
More physical team. Looked more aggressive,” he wrote about the 52-28 victory.
Texas also earned praise after escaping Tennessee 20-17 in Knoxville. Cubelic labeled it a “Huge win on the road. Will look better a month from now,” a nod to just how tough that trip was for the top-ranked Longhorns.
Mississippi State’s perfect start got a spotlight as well after the Bulldogs knocked off Missouri. Cubelic summed it up this way: “Really nice win. Defense flew around,” he wrote about those surprising Bulldogs.
LSU’s bounce-back effort against Texas A&M was part of the same sweep, with Cubelic zeroing in on quarterback play. “QB run effective. Left pocket early a few times early then settled in & delivered some nice balls under pressure,” Cubelic wrote about Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt.
His full social media breakdown covered every SEC team, with Arkansas drawing praise for handling its business and getting solid work from the left side of the offensive line. Kentucky’s run game got singled out as elite, with Cubelic pointing to three running backs topping 100 yards and strong play from the offensive line and tight ends.
On Oklahoma, he called the outing “Brutal” but said the defense played hard and flew around. South Carolina’s early plan drew approval, though Cubelic said drops, missed throws and issues in pass protection hurt the Gamecocks. Vanderbilt’s defense also earned a hard-nosed assessment, with Cubelic noting the unit played hard but couldn’t disrupt enough behind the line of scrimmage.
Here’s Cubelic’s full rundown from Sunday night:
ARKANSAS: Handled their business. QB made some nice throws.
Little indecisive leaving the pocket. When he did make decision quick had nice gains.

Kamario Taylor Just Addressed Mississippi State Rumors Before Alabama
Kamario Taylor has spent the last stretch doing what Mississippi State needed most: settling the offense and keeping the focus on football. With the Bulldogs preparing for Alabama, the quarterback has also been answering a different kind of pressure, one that comes with a fast start and immediate outside attention. Tied for the FBS lead in touchdown passes, Taylor has become one of the bigger storylines around Starkville, and not just because of what he has done on the field.
Taylor has publicly brushed aside transfer speculation and made clear he wants to stay with Mississippi State and finish what he started. For a program trying to build momentum while staring down one of the toughest opponents on the schedule, that kind of message matters almost as much as the production. The Bulldogs can use the stability, but with rumors always lingering around productive quarterbacks, the next few weeks will say plenty about how firm that commitment really is. [Read more 🡒]
Mississippi State Finally Gets Its Chance To Prove This Start Is Real
Mississippi States rise has been impossible to ignore, and the Bulldogs have already earned a milestone that had been a long time coming. By beating No. 19 Missouri, they snapped a 12-year drought in ranked-vs.-ranked wins and pushed themselves to No. 16, turning what looked like an encouraging start into something with a little more weight behind it.
Now comes the kind of game that can tell everyone whether this really is a leap forward. Mississippi State heads into an SEC matchup with No. 7 Alabama, a meeting of unbeaten teams that brings even more attention to quarterback Keelon Russell on the Crimson Tide side and Kamario Taylor for the Bulldogs. For Mississippi State, it is a chance to show the Missouri win was more than a good night, and that the ranking reflects something sustainable. [Read more 🡒]
Mississippi State Has A Real Opening In This Alabama Matchup
Mississippi State gets a chance in Week 5 that can change the conversation around the program, at least for a night. Alabama is the bigger name and the heavier favorite, but this matchup has enough moving parts to make it worth a second look, especially in a week built around upset hunting. For the Bulldogs, the appeal is obvious: these are the kinds of games that can shift momentum, raise expectations and give a team a far cleaner national profile if things break right.
The case for an opening comes from the same place most upset arguments do, which is matchup-specific edges and the possibility that the favorite is more vulnerable than its reputation suggests. Alabama still brings the standard weight that comes with a trip to the field, but Mississippi State is being viewed through a lens that suggests this one is not simply a formality. Whether that opportunity turns into something more is the part everyone will be watching, and it is exactly why this game sits near the top of the Week 5 upset conversation. [Read more 🡒]
