Elgton Jenkins Stuns Fans by Joining Top AFC North Team

Elgton Jenkins, a versatile offensive lineman and two-time Pro Bowler, finds a new home in Cleveland as the Browns aim to bolster their protection strategy.

Elgton Jenkins, a standout offensive lineman since being drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2019, is making headlines once again. After being released by the Packers to free up cap space, Jenkins has quickly secured a new deal with the Cleveland Browns. The two-time Pro Bowler will ink a two-year contract worth $24 million, with a substantial $20 million guaranteed, as reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Jenkins' departure from Green Bay, where he had signed a $68 million extension through 2026, creates a $19.5 million cap space for the Packers. This move comes after a challenging 2025 season where Jenkins transitioned from guard to center, starting the first nine games before an unfortunate injury. In Week 10 against the Eagles, quarterback Jordan Love inadvertently rolled into Jenkins, leading to a fractured fibula and ligament damage.

This isn't the first time Jenkins has faced adversity on the field. Back in 2021, he tore his left ACL in a game against the Vikings. Despite these setbacks, his versatility and skill have made him a coveted asset for the Browns.

Cleveland is clearly focused on bolstering their offensive line after conceding 51 sacks last season. Alongside Jenkins, they're bringing in Tytus Howard from the Texans via trade and signing former Chargers guard Zion Johnson. Additionally, backup left guard Teven Jenkins, who joined the Browns in 2025, is expected to re-sign, further strengthening their front five.

With these strategic additions, the Browns are setting their sights on a more formidable offensive line, aiming to provide better protection and open up their playbook for the coming season.
