Dak Prescott knows a thing or two about what it looks like when a Mississippi State quarterback takes over a fan base, and he’s seeing that same spark in Kamario Taylor.
Prescott, the former Bulldogs star and longtime Dallas Cowboys quarterback, has been impressed by Taylor’s start to the 2026 season. That’s no small compliment coming from a player who carved out his own place in Starkville history from 2011-15. Prescott was a 2-time 1st-team All-SEC quarterback, piled up 9,376 passing yards with 70 touchdown passes and 23 interceptions, and added 2,521 rushing yards and 41 rushing touchdowns.
Now it’s Taylor’s turn to grab the spotlight, and he’s done plenty with it through three games. Mississippi State is 3-0, ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll, and fresh off a road win over South Carolina in its SEC opener.
Taylor has been the driving force behind that start, throwing for 832 yards with 11 touchdowns and just 1 interception. He’s also completed 68.3% of his passes, posted an 88.9 QBR, and added 178 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Prescott didn’t hold back when asked about what Taylor has brought to the program.
“I love the mentality. I love the belief in himself and what he’s allowed Mississippi State to feel again. The excitement, I’m as excited about that program as I’ve ever been since I was playing,” said Prescott about Taylor, according to SEC Network.
Mississippi State will try to keep the momentum rolling against Mizzou at 7:45 p.m. ET on SEC Network, with the Tigers looking to knock the Bulldogs off course and spoil the early-season surge in Starkville.
