The Minnesota Wild’s 2026-27 schedule opens with a grind.
When the NHL dropped the full slate Thursday, the first thing that jumped out for Minnesota was the road-heavy opening stretch. The Wild will play 10 of their first 14 games away from Grand Casino Arena, and 20 of their first 30 on the road.
October is especially punishing, with 10 road games and a season-long five-game trip running from Oct. 20-27.
That kind of start can shape a season fast, especially for a team expected to be in the mix in the Western Conference. If the Wild can get through that early travel without falling behind, they’ll give themselves a real chance to settle in once the schedule swings the other way.
And it does swing.
Starting Dec. 12, Minnesota won’t leave home again for the rest of the month.
That stretch gives the Wild their longest homestand of the season: seven straight games at Grand Casino Arena from Dec. 12 through Dec. 31.
January is friendlier too, with nine home games on the calendar, giving Minnesota a chance to recover after the opening months on the move.
There are other notable wrinkles, too. Jake Middleton will skate at Grand Casino Arena as a visitor for the first time when the Calgary Flames come to town on March 19. The Wild also have 10 back-to-back sets, a clear test of depth over the course of the year.
The league’s break schedule offers a pause as well. Minnesota will get an extended layoff from Jan. 31 through Feb. 10 because of the NHL All-Star festivities and the league’s scheduled bye week.
Overall, the 2026-27 schedule is an 84-game slate split evenly with 42 home games and 42 road games. In division play, Minnesota will face each Central Division opponent four times for 28 games, and will play 24 games against Pacific Division teams under the NHL’s divisional format.
There’s also plenty for fans to circle on the home calendar. The Wild have 23 weekend games at Grand Casino Arena, including five on Friday, 11 on Saturday and seven on Sunday.
One thing missing from the schedule: a New Year’s Eve game. Minnesota is not slated to play on Dec.
The lesson is pretty simple. The schedule won’t decide the Wild’s season, but it could absolutely influence it. Survive the early road gauntlet, and the later months look like a chance to make up ground.

Wild Fans Have Every Reason To Sweat Quinn Hughes Right Now
Minnesotas roster has already taken on a different look this summer, with three of last seasons top-nine forwards out and a new group in place that still has to show it can produce. The changes have not stopped up front, either, because the Wild also moved Jake Middleton and brought in veteran Olli Maatta on defense, another reminder that this is a team trying to rework pieces while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
That bigger picture now includes Quinn Hughes, who became extension eligible on July 1 and is already a central part of the conversation around the Wilds future. The talks are ongoing, and the timing has become even more interesting with Cale Makars situation in Colorado reportedly shaping the broader market for elite defensemen, which leaves Minnesota watching closely as one of the leagues most important negotiations continues to develop. Wild Just Took An Intriguing Swing At Goaltending Depth
The Wild added another name to their goaltending pipeline this week, signing a recent draft pick to an entry-level deal after a strong season in the WHL. Minnesota used a fifth-round selection on the Czech netminder in the 2026 NHL Draft, betting on a rare mix of size and upside after his run with Brandon made him one of the more interesting developmental swings in the organization.
For a team that is always thinking about the long view in goal, the appeal is obvious: he brings a frame that stands out even before the rest of the toolkit comes into focus. The contract gives Minnesota a chance to keep working with him over the next few years, and the real question now is how quickly that raw physical profile can turn into something the Wild can actually count on down the road.
