Minnesota Wild Recall Defenseman David Spacek
In an exciting move for the Minnesota Wild, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin has announced the recall of defenseman David Spacek from the Iowa Wild, their AHL affiliate.
Spacek, who just turned 23, has already made a couple of appearances for Minnesota this season, debuting against Winnipeg in January. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 190 pounds, this Columbus, Ohio native has been a standout in Iowa.
With 20 points, including four goals and 16 assists over 37 games, he's been leading the charge in assists and topping the charts for defensemen in points and shots. Last season, Spacek was equally impressive, racking up 31 points and leading the team with 18 power play assists.
His international experience is just as noteworthy. Spacek donned the Czechia jersey at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, contributing an assist in five games. His international résumé also includes appearances at the IIHF World Championships, where he helped Czechia to a gold medal in 2024 and a silver at the 2023 World Junior Tournament.
Drafted by Minnesota in the fifth round back in 2022, Spacek is proving to be a valuable asset. He sports the No. 82 sweater for the Wild, and fans are eager to see what he brings to the ice in the NHL.
For those following the Iowa Wild, the team continues to offer exciting hockey action at Casey’s Center. Fans can catch all the games streaming on AHLTV via FloHockey. Season tickets for 2026-27 are currently available, promising more thrilling hockey ahead.
