Vikings Stun with Second Place in NFLPA Team Rankings Again

Despite a challenging season, the Minnesota Vikings maintain top rankings in NFLPA's team report cards, securing second place with high marks for leadership and facilities.

The NFL recently emerged victorious in a grievance to keep a player survey under wraps, but the results have still surfaced, shedding light on team dynamics and conditions.

For the third year running, the Minnesota Vikings have secured the second-best overall grade in the NFL Players Association's survey. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins continue to reign supreme, holding the top spot for the third consecutive year. Both teams have consistently dominated the top two positions since the inception of these report cards in 2023, with the Vikings claiming the top spot after the 2022 season.

The Vikings received high praise from players, earning an A- or better in 11 out of 17 categories. At the heart of this success is the team's ownership, the Wilf family, who have been lauded for their commitment and resources. Last season, the Vikings boasted the NFL's most expensive roster, highlighting the bittersweet nature of their 9-8 season and the subsequent dismissal of former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

Despite the season's challenges, players expressed strong support for their leadership, awarding high grades to general manager (A), head coach Kevin O’Connell (A), and the team's family treatment and locker room environment (both A).

Areas for improvement were noted, with the food and dining facilities at the Eagan headquarters receiving a B-, and U.S. Bank Stadium’s artificial turf earning a B. The turf was updated in 2024, moving away from a slit-film surface linked to increased lower-body injuries.

The Vikings' coaching staff also received commendable evaluations: offensive coordinator Wes Phillips and special teams coordinator Matt Daniels both earned an A-, while defensive coordinator Brian Flores received a B+.

These insights provide a window into the Vikings' internal culture and priorities, painting a picture of a franchise committed to excellence and continuous improvement.
