A simple stadium sign outside U.S. Bank Stadium sent Minnesota Vikings fans into overdrive on Tuesday, but the reveal was a lot less dramatic than the name on the board suggested.
The digital display featured a Vikings No. 10 jersey and the last name “Hill,” which was enough to get some fans thinking about veteran wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Instead, the sign was honoring a different Hill entirely: Byren Hill, a longtime U.S. Bank Stadium employee celebrating 10 years of service.
The stadium’s social media channel said the message was part of a recognition tradition for full-time employees reaching a decade with the organization. “As an employer, U.S.
Bank Stadium has been celebrating our full-time employees for a decade of service with recognition on the exterior digital boards. This was posted today to recognize and congratulate Byren Hill for ten years of service!”
According to his Facebook page, Byren Hill has worked as a cleaning services supervisor at U.S. Bank Stadium since October 2016. There was one more twist in the story, too: Hill is a Packers fan.
Tyreek Hill even got in on the joke, replying to U.S. Bank Stadium’s post with, “congrats Bryen Hill” and a hand-clapping emoji.
The timing of the sign did land during a stretch where the Vikings’ receiver situation is still unsettled. Justin Jefferson returned from an ankle injury against New Orleans and caught six passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Addison missed that game with a hamstring injury, and Jauan Jennings has just one catch on five targets this season.
The Vikings also added Odell Beckham Jr. to the practice squad last week. Tyreek Hill, meanwhile, is a free agent after suffering a gruesome knee injury last season and being released. When healthy, he remains one of the fastest receivers in the NFL.
For now, though, the Vikings are not about to unveil Tyreek Hill in purple.

Justin Jefferson's Homecoming Meant More Than Another Vikings Win
Justin Jeffersons afternoon in New Orleans carried plenty of meaning beyond the final score. Back in his hometown, the Vikings star was part of a 23-13 win over the Saints and gave Minnesota a needed lift with six catches for 79 yards, plus the kind of steady presence that has become his calling card when he is on the field. The setting made it feel bigger than a regular road game, especially for a player who has talked often about how far he has come since his earliest days in the sport.
Jefferson also sounded moved after the game, taking a moment to reflect on the path that took him from a zero-star recruit to one of the NFLs top receivers. For Minnesota, it was another reminder of how central he is to what the offense wants to be, even in a week when his availability had been a question. The win mattered in the standings, but the story around Jefferson was about something deeper, and his return to Louisiana added another layer the Vikings will not mind carrying forward. [Read more 🡒]
Vikings Win Hid A Week 5 Shakeup Fans Should Notice
The Vikings 23-13 win over the Saints in Week 5 kept their unbeaten start intact heading into the bye, but the bigger takeaway may have been what happened after the opening stages of the game. Minnesota had to juggle its personnel on the fly, and the snap counts offered a clearer look at which players were asked to pick up the slack when the offense and defense both had to adjust.
Gavin Bartholomew was one of the names that stood out in the shuffle, taking on a larger role in the offense while Blake Cashman also saw his workload rise on the defensive side. For a team that left the field with a win, the bye week now comes with a few questions attached, and the way Minnesota sorts through those usage patterns will be worth watching when it returns. Vikings Bye Week Puts One Costly Receiver Gamble Under The Spotlight
The Vikings spent part of the offseason betting on Jauan Jennings as a one-year addition at receiver, a move that looked sensible enough in May with the roster still taking shape. But five games into the season, the fit has not produced much on the field, especially with other Minnesota pass-catchers doing more to keep the offense moving while the team works through injuries at the position.
The bye week gives the front office a little breathing room, and it has also put Jennings under a sharper spotlight at a time when the Vikings have already reached out for help by signing Odell Beckham Jr. and working out other free-agent receivers, including JuJu Smith-Schuster. With the roster churn still going and cap flexibility becoming part of the conversation, Jennings now sits at the center of a decision that could end with Minnesota moving on before the season gets much deeper.
