The Vikings may be on bye in Week 6, but there’s still one game worth keeping right in front of them: Titans-Colts at noon on Sunday.
Sure, plenty of eyes will drift toward the bigger divisional stuff, like Bears-Falcons or Cowboys-Packers on Sunday Night Football. But for Minnesota, the AFC South matchup carries a little extra weight, even if it doesn’t look like a headline game at first glance.
The obvious hook is Week 7. The Vikings will come out of their bye and welcome the Colts to U.S.
Bank Stadium, with their undefeated record on the line. That game will also bring former Vikings quarterback Daniel Jones back into the picture as Indianapolis’ starter.
Jones has gone 10-8 since leaving Minnesota. In that stretch, he has completed 65.9% of his passes for 4,122 yards and 22 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, with a 91.8 passer rating. He’s also added 189 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 59 carries.
For Minnesota, Sunday’s Colts game should offer a useful preview of what’s coming next week, especially with Jones and Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor in the mix. Taylor has 504 total yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns on 114 touches.
But the Titans deserve attention too, and not just because they’re on the schedule Sunday. SKOR North’s Judd Zulgad floated an idea that connects directly to Minnesota’s own roster needs: the Vikings need more help at running back behind Aaron Jones Sr., and Tony Pollard could be a fit.
That possibility starts with Tennessee’s record. The Titans are 0-5 and have been uncompetitive so far this season, which could make them willing to think ahead to the future. If that happens, Pollard might not cost more than a mid-round draft pick.
Pollard has been one of the few bright spots for Tennessee. He’s 29 years old and has logged 68 carries for 273 yards and a touchdown this season, along with eight catches for 24 yards. He’s averaging four yards per carry despite the Titans’ struggles, and Pro Football Focus has given him a grade of 71, which ranks 12th among 44 qualifying running backs.
From Minnesota’s perspective, the fit is easy to see. Aaron Jones won’t be the starter forever, and pairing Pollard with Jordan Mason would help give the backfield more stability going forward while also adding depth this season.
Whether the Vikings check in on Pollard before the Nov. 10 trade deadline is something to watch, especially if Tennessee keeps losing. Sunday’s Titans-Colts game could end up offering a clue about how realistic that kind of move might become.

Blake Cashman Is Becoming A Much Bigger Vikings Story Than Expected
The Vikings 5-0 start has been fueled in part by a defense that keeps finding new ways to make life difficult for opposing quarterbacks, and Blake Cashman has quickly become one of the more interesting pieces in Brian Flores scheme. The linebacker has already shown he can affect the passer, bringing quickness and timing that have made him a steady presence in a front that has spent the opening month setting the tone for Minnesota.
Cashmans production has also started to push the conversation beyond his role as a reliable defender and into bigger expectations for the rest of the season. If he keeps generating pressure at this pace, he could wind up with a far more noticeable sack total than anyone might have expected in September, which would only add to a defense that has helped make the Vikings one of the early surprises of the league. Vikings' Undefeated Start Just Made One Trade Debate Impossible To Ignore
An undefeated start has a way of changing the conversation around a roster, and Minnesotas 5-0 run has only made the question of what comes next louder. The Vikings have held their ground despite some offensive issues and a few concerns about defensive depth, which is why any discussion about adding help is now being viewed through a playoff lens rather than a survival one.
Bleacher Report recently pointed to Khalil Mack as a possible fit, with the Chargers off to a rough start and the veteran edge rusher still performing at a high level. For Minnesota, the appeal is obvious: a proven pass rusher would add another layer to a defense trying to stay ahead of the curve, even if no deal is in place and any move would have to make sense for a team that has given itself plenty of reasons to think big. Jalen Redmonds Breakout Just Created A Vikings Roster Dilemma
Jalen Redmond has quietly turned a bigger defensive-line opportunity into one of the more encouraging developments on the Vikings roster this season. Through the first five games, his play has been strong enough that Minnesota has leaned on him more, and that matters for a front that already invested in youth by drafting Caleb Banks and Domonique Orange to help shape the future up front.
The challenge is no longer just what Redmond is doing on the field, but what comes next when the business side arrives. He is on track to hit restricted free agency after this season, and keeping him in the fold is viewed as important to the Vikings long-term plan, especially with other roster decisions looming and a cap picture that could make every priority feel like a tight fit.
