Vikings Are Suddenly Tied To A Massive Justin Herbert Question

With the NFL trade deadline fast approaching, speculation swirls around Justin Herbert's future as experts discuss theoretical trades that could shake up the league.

Justin Herbert’s name is out there in trade hypotheticals, even if the Chargers have shown no interest in moving their Pro Bowl quarterback.

The reality is that a deal is highly unlikely before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.

Herbert is under contract through the 2029 season, and there’s no indication the Chargers are looking to part with him. Still, if a team were going to dream big and call anyway, the conversation starts with a quarterback who has already piled up 26,218 career passing yards and 168 touchdowns since entering the league in 2020.

This season has not gone smoothly for Herbert. He’s completing 61.8% of his passes for 1,398 yards, with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Even so, the talent is obvious, which is why teams would line up if he somehow became available.

Minnesota is one of the clubs that would make sense in that scenario. The Vikings have what the source describes as a Super Bowl-caliber defense, but their passing game has not been up to the same standard.

In six games this season, Kyler Murray has thrown for 1,022 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. If Minnesota wants to settle its long-term quarterback situation, Herbert would be the kind of move that changes the picture fast.

Former NFL quarterback Phil Simms called Herbert a “perfect fit” in Minnesota’s offense.

The Jets also have the kind of draft capital that could make a blockbuster possible. They currently own three first-round picks for the 2027 NFL Draft, and they have three top-10 selections because the Colts and Cowboys are below .500.

Nick Wright pointed to that stockpile as a reason the Jets could make a serious run at Herbert. “It’s absolutely on the board that the Jets have three Top 12 picks - their own first-round pick, the Colts’ first-round pick from the Sauce Gardner trade, and they get to pick Dallas’s first or Green Bay’s first, which Green Bay owes Dallas for Micah,” Wright said.

“Do I expect at least two of those three teams to be really bad? Yes.

If this Chargers’ year goes terrible, if the Jets call up the Chargers and say, ‘We will give you, not future picks, three picks you can use right now.’ And if you’re the Jets, you’re not like, ‘Hey, we’re not crippling our ability to compete with Herbert in the future because we’re not trading any future year’s draft picks.’”

Boomer Esiason floated another wild idea last week, suggesting the Cowboys should send Dak Prescott to the Chargers in a swap for Herbert. He said the fit could help both sides.

“I mean, Justin Herbert goes to the Cowboys, and Dak Prescott goes to the Chargers, that would be amazing,” Esiason said. “That would be great for the NFL, great for football.

Now, both of these guys probably have no-trade clauses in their contracts. But, maybe both of the guys are sick and tired of where they are, by the time we get to the end of the season.

I think that would be a dream scenario for all of us who cover the NFL. I don’t know that would help, and I don’t think Dak is going anywhere.”

It’s a long shot, but if the Cowboys go another year without a playoff appearance, Jerry Jones might be tempted to make a massive move.

Vikings Just Sent A Clear Trade Deadline Signal To Fans

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Vikings created some breathing room on their roster by moving on from a pair of depth pieces and leaving themselves a little more flexibility for whatever comes next. Minnesota waived guard Trevor Keegan and released tight end Bryson Nesbit from the practice squad, a pair of transactions that opened spots as the team continues to sort through its options.

General manager Nolan Teasley has not added anyone yet, but the timing is hard to miss with Minnesota preparing for a matchup against the Buffalo Bills and still evaluating the depth chart. Even if no deal follows right away, the roster maneuvering suggests the Vikings are keeping the door open for a deadline move if the right opportunity presents itself. [Read more 🡒]

Vikings Suddenly Have A Jake Golday Decision They Can't Ignore

The Vikings run defense has hit a rough patch at exactly the wrong time, giving up 384 rushing yards over the last two games while the missed tackles have piled up. With more physical rushing attacks on the schedule, the issue is no longer just about scheme or effort. It is becoming a personnel question, and that has put rookie linebacker Jake Golday into the conversation as a possible way to steady things.

Golday has barely been used on defense this season, but he has earned trust on special teams and has shown the kind of tackling reliability Minnesota could use more of right now. The Vikings do not need to overhaul everything to get better against the run, but they do need to find answers quickly, and giving Golday a larger defensive role is the kind of adjustment that could make sense before the next wave of tough opponents arrives. Raiders Suddenly Have A Kirk Cousins Decision Fans Cant Ignore

Kirk Cousins has already become part of the conversation in Las Vegas this season, not just because of what he can still do on the field, but because of the role he is playing behind the scenes. The veteran quarterback is mentoring Fernando Mendoza for the Raiders, and after the team finally got back in the win column against the Jets, his presence has only looked more valuable to a club trying to steady itself during the 2026 season.

For Minnesota fans, the timing is hard to miss. A Vikings loss has reopened the quarterback chatter around the league, with Kyler Murray's future drawing speculation and Cousins naturally surfacing as a name to watch, but the Raiders do not appear eager to make that kind of move. The bigger question now is whether Las Vegas would even consider disrupting a locker room that is leaning on Cousins in more ways than one. [Read more 🡒]
