Ravens Suddenly Have A Quarterback Story Fans Never Expected

As injuries shake up NFL rosters, savvy collectors are eyeing backup quarterbacks poised to shine in the playoff spotlight for potential card market booms.

The quarterback carousel is spinning again, and collectors are already watching the ripple effect. As the NFL season moves into its second half, the hobby tends to lean hard toward the players who can shape January and February.

The big names are obvious enough - Josh Allen, Brock Purdy, Joe Burrow, and Trevor Lawrence all look positioned to draw more attention. But the real move in the card market often comes from the less obvious passers, the guys who suddenly find themselves in the spotlight because of injury, opportunity, or both.

Joe Fagnano is one of those names. With Lamar Jackson injured and possibly out for the season, and Tyler Huntley also sidelined, the Baltimore Ravens are turning to the 25-year-old undrafted rookie out of UConn.

He’s expected to start for the foreseeable future, and for collectors he’s still very much a fresh face. Fagnano currently has just one officially licensed trading card available, his 2026 Upper Deck World of Sports card (#107), which shows him in his UConn Huskies uniform.

The set came out earlier this year and includes athletes from a select group of colleges and universities. Over the past two weeks, his base card has sold for $35 to $80.

Shedeur Sanders is back in the starting job for the Cleveland Browns, taking over for Deshaun Watson, who is unable to play because of injury. Sanders already gave collectors a taste of what his market can do.

Last season, when he started for Cleveland, he went 3-4, and during that run his cards surged, with multiple sales topping $10,000. Now that the Browns are still in the playoff mix, the question is whether that same kind of spike shows up again.

Carson Wentz is another quarterback whose card market could get a jolt if his opportunity turns into something bigger. The Vikings have leaned on him as an efficient backup over the past two seasons, and with Kyler Murray struggling to stay healthy and play effectively, Wentz is set to start Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. There’s already a clear benchmark for the kind of hobby buzz he can generate: in November 2017, a PSA 10 of his National Treasures RPA sold for $6,891.98 before the knee injury that ended his season that December.

Then there’s Jaxson Dart and the chain reaction that followed his knee injury. Once Dart went down, the New York Giants’ season looked finished.

Instead, the team traded for Minnesota Vikings backup quarterback J.J. McCarthy, and his play since then has breathed life back into the Giants.

McCarthy’s hobby stock had fallen to its lowest point before the trade, but he’s back on collectors’ radar now. His rookie cards are being picked up at reasonable prices, especially the numbered autos.

Earlier this week, a PSA 10 of his 2024 Prizm Deca Signatures Gold Shimmer First Off The Line Rookie Auto sold for $2,800.

Vikings Suddenly Make Sense In One Trade Rumor Fans Can't Ignore

The quarterback market has a way of turning strange in a hurry, and Daniel Jones is suddenly part of that conversation again. ESPN reports the Colts have already moved on from Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and even after giving Jones a two-year extension in March, they have still been fielding interest from other teams looking for help under center.

For Minnesota, the fit is easy to understand. The Vikings have been searching for answers on offense, and Jones comes with a built-in link to Kevin OConnell, which is why the rumor has real traction around the league. Baltimore was among the teams that checked in, but the Ravens went in a different direction, leaving Minnesota as one of the more logical places to watch if this situation keeps developing. Vikings Suddenly Have A Daniel Jones Question They Can't Ignore

The quarterback market has a way of circling back on teams that thought they were set, and Minnesota is suddenly in that conversation again. An ESPN report says the Indianapolis Colts have discussed Daniel Jones in trade talks, with the Baltimore Ravens and Vikings both mentioned as possible landing spots, which is enough to put a familiar name back on the radar in Minneapolis.

For the Vikings, the appeal is easy to understand if the need becomes immediate. Jones is one of the more notable backup-level options in the league, and the possibility of adding him would depend heavily on how the quarterback room looks if the starter is sidelined. His contract also adds another layer to the discussion, since the guarantees attached to it could shape whether any deal is even workable. [Read more 🡒]

Odell Beckham Jr. Suddenly Looks In Play For Vikings Against Buffalo

Odell Beckham Jr. may not have gotten on the field for the Vikings in Week 5, but the path toward his debut in Minnesota has reopened quickly. The team signed Beckham to the practice squad and elevated him to the active roster last week, only to leave him inactive after Justin Jefferson was cleared to play, but the veteran receiver has continued working with the group and remains part of the conversation as Minnesota prepares for Buffalo.

Kevin O'Connell has said Beckham has looked good in practice, and the Vikings are weighing another elevation before Monday night. An injury to Jauan Jennings has helped create the opening, putting Beckham back in position to potentially suit up sooner rather than later as Minnesota sorts through its receiver decisions ahead of a tough matchup with the Bills.
