Justin Jefferson’s Week 5 status is still up in the air, and the Vikings are calling him questionable for Sunday’s game against the Saints because of an ankle injury.
Minnesota has both of its top wideouts listed that way. Jordan Addison is also questionable with a hamstring issue, leaving the Vikings unsure what their receiver room will look like when they take on New Orleans.
Jefferson said earlier in the week that he expects to play, but nothing official has come down to confirm he’ll be active. He sat out Week 4 after hurting the ankle early in Minnesota’s Week 3 win.
So far this season, Jefferson has 13 catches on 17 targets for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Most of that damage came in Week 1, when Carson Wentz handled a large portion of the game for the injured Kyler Murray.
“The plan is definitely to play Sunday, but who knows?”
That was Jefferson’s message on his Week 5 outlook, and the Vikings’ moves since then at least leave the door open that one or both receivers may be less than full strength. Minnesota elevated Odell Beckham Jr. and Jeshaun Jones from the practice squad, a move that could hint at concern surrounding Jefferson or Addison.
If Jefferson does suit up, there’s still a betting angle to consider. He can be in play in the prop market, but the outlook isn’t exactly clean.
Minnesota’s passing game has struggled badly through four weeks. The Vikings rank last in the NFL in passing yards with 624 and sit 23rd in EPA/Pass. That’s a rough environment for any receiver, even one as talented as Jefferson.
That’s why the numbers point to caution on his reception total. He had eight catches in Week 1, but much of that production came with Wentz under center. Since then, he has only five catches total, and he has seen very little of Kyler Murray after Murray missed Week 2 with a concussion.
Even if Jefferson is active Sunday, there’s a real chance he’s limited. That makes him a shaky prop option, and the lean here is to take the UNDER until Minnesota shows it can move the ball more consistently with Murray at quarterback.

Vikings Face A Tough Game Day Question With Key Absences
Minnesotas pregame picture got a lot clearer on the inactive list, and a lot more challenging, too. The Vikings will go into their matchup with New Orleans missing Jordan Addison, Odell Beckham Jr., Christian Darrisaw, Chuck Demmings, Jakobe Thomas and Elijah Williams, while Justin Jefferson and Brian ONeill are available, giving the offense at least one of its top playmakers and a key piece up front.
Christian Darrisaws absence leaves a notable hole on the left side, and the Saints also arrived with their own share of questions after listing Vernon Broughton, Kaden Elliss, Anfernee Jennings, Mike Reid, Nathan Shepherd and Jeremiah Wright inactive. New Orleans still has Barion Brown, Julian Blackmon and Alvin Kamara available despite being questionable, so the final shape of the game will come down to which side handles its absences better once the ball is kicked off. Vikings Stayed Unbeaten Through A Messy Win That Said Plenty
The Vikings went into their meeting with the Saints trying to protect an unbeaten start before the bye week, and they had to do it while already shorthanded on offense. Minnesota kept finding ways to stay afloat anyway, leaning on Kyler Murrays mobility and accurate passing as the game turned messy around them, but the win came with the kind of wear and tear that can linger far beyond one Sunday.
Minnesota also had to absorb more blows in-game, with T.J. Hockenson leaving on the second snap and the offense already operating without Christian Darrisaw, Jordan Addison and Donovan Jackson. Even so, the Vikings pushed through turnovers and a handful of self-inflicted mistakes to get to 5-0, though the red-zone fumbles that gave the Saints extra points left plenty for the Vikings to sort out when they return from the break. Vikings Passing Attack Hinges On A Crucial Pregame Decision
Minnesotas passing game enters Week 5 with a familiar dose of uncertainty, and it centers on Jordan Addisons hamstring. The wideout is listed as questionable for the game against the Saints, and both Addison and Justin Jefferson are expected to go through pregame workouts before the Vikings decide who is ready to suit up.
The timing matters because Minnesota already added depth at receiver by elevating Odell Beckham Jr. and Jeshaun Jones from the practice squad ahead of Sundays game. Even with Jefferson in the mix, the Vikings need clarity on Addison before kickoff, since his availability could shape how aggressive the offense can be and how much pressure falls on the rest of the receiving group.
