Justin Jefferson no longer owns one of the NFL’s receiver records, and the player who took it from him did it inside the same division.
During Sunday’s Week 5 matchup, Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown moved past Jefferson for the most receptions through a player’s first six seasons.
The Lions’ public relations account confirmed the milestone on X, noting that St. Brown went beyond Jefferson’s previous total of 579 catches.
It’s the latest entry on a résumé that keeps growing for St. Brown, who entered the league as a fourth-round pick in 2021 and has long since outperformed the usual expectations for that draft slot.
His production has been remarkably steady from the start, beginning with 90 receptions as a rookie before jumping to 106 in 2022. He followed that with 119 catches in 2023, 115 in 2024 and 117 in 2025.
That kind of year-to-year consistency is exactly how St. Brown got here. He had already claimed the record for receptions through a player’s first five seasons, and now he’s added another NFL mark to his name.
Jefferson had set the six-season standard with his own blistering start in Minnesota, piling up 579 receptions and establishing himself as one of the league’s top wideouts. But in this race, St. Brown has now edged ahead.
The milestone also says plenty about what he means to Detroit. St. Brown has become a trusted target in the Lions’ passing game, thanks to his reliable hands and his knack for finding room.
None of that takes away from Jefferson’s place among the NFL’s elite. It does, however, give the NFC North another sharp little measuring stick between two of the league’s best receivers - and this one now belongs to St. Brown.

Vikings Defense Is Starting To Look Like Every Offenses Nightmare
Minnesotas defense spent Sunday looking like the kind of unit opposing offenses would rather avoid altogether. In a 23-13 win over the Saints, Byron Murphy Jr. turned in a strong night in the secondary, while linebacker Blake Cashman and the rest of the group helped keep New Orleans out of rhythm and fed a Vikings team that went into its bye week without a loss.
What made it stand out was how little the Saints were able to build, even with a young quarterback trying to settle in. Tyler Shough never found much room to operate, and Minnesotas coverage and pursuit kept the pressure on from start to finish. Murphys two interceptions were the headline, but the bigger story for the Vikings is that this defense is starting to look consistent enough to carry real weight as the season moves forward. Vikings Stay Unbeaten As Their Defense Sends A Clear Message
The Vikings kept their unbeaten start alive Sunday with a 23-13 win over the Saints, and once again the story was about a defense that keeps making life miserable for opponents. Minnesotas offense did enough to stay in control, but the tone of the game was set by a unit that never let New Orleans find much rhythm and helped push the Vikings to 5-0 heading into their Week 6 bye.
Aaron Jones gave Minnesota an important fourth-quarter cushion with an 8-yard touchdown run, and Will Reichard later added a 55-yard field goal to help close it out. For a team that keeps stacking wins while waiting for its next test, the bigger message is getting harder to miss: the Vikings are not just surviving the early season, theyre dictating how games are played. Kyler Murray Is Giving Vikings Fans Real Reason To Believe
Kyler Murray put together the kind of efficient, dual-threat afternoon that can make a team feel a little different about itself, and Minnesota had every reason to take notice in the 23-13 win over New Orleans. He completed 24 of 30 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown without an interception, then added another layer with his legs, giving the Vikings the sort of balanced quarterback play that has been hard to ignore.
For a team heading into its bye week, the timing matters. Minnesota now gets a chance to carry that performance into the next stretch of the schedule, and the broader significance is hard to miss, too, because the game checked a box this franchise had never seen from a quarterback before. The only question is whether this was a one-off eruption or the kind of outing that starts to reshape what Vikings fans expect every week. [Read more 🡒]
