Jonathan Greenard’s first training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles is starting on the wrong foot.
The former Minnesota Vikings edge rusher has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of a pectoral injury he recently suffered, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The injury comes after a 2025 season that already ended early, and Greenard also underwent shoulder surgery this winter.
Schefter reported the move this way:

The exact timing of the pectoral injury isn’t known, only that it was described as recent. Because Greenard is on the active/PUP list during camp, he can come off it whenever he’s medically cleared. At this point, the designation does not lock him into missing regular-season games.
For Minnesota, though, this is no longer their problem.
The Vikings made the call in April to move on from Greenard after an injury-hit stretch and a dip in production, even though he had been a Pro Bowl player just a year earlier. He had played all 17 games in his first season with Minnesota in 2024, but last year he appeared in only 12.
That availability issue mattered even more because he was also pushing for another payday. Minnesota traded him to Philadelphia, and the Eagles handed him a four-year extension.
On the field, Greenard’s 2025 numbers told the story of a player who wasn’t quite himself. He finished with 38 tackles and three sacks in 12 games, a steep drop from the 12 sacks he posted in 2024.
His missed time also opened the door for Dallas Turner, who got more snaps and showed enough for the Vikings to believe he can be the next man up.
The trade package sent Greenard and a 2026 seventh-round pick to Philadelphia in exchange for third-round picks in 2026 and 2027. Even after moving on from Greenard, Minnesota still appears likely to use some of its cap space to bring in another edge rusher for depth - ideally one who costs less and is healthier.
