The Minnesota Vikings are taking an early pause before getting back to work.
After starting the 2026 season strong and standing as one of three undefeated teams left, Minnesota is off in Week 6 on its bye. That means no game today for the Vikings, who are one of four teams with the week off as the NFL moves into its second round of byes. The other teams idle this week are the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals.
The break comes after a promising stretch for the Vikings, including a win over the New Orleans Saints in which new quarterback Kyler Murray turned in his best game of the young season. Murray is still getting comfortable after coming off a concussion, but his timing with Justin Jefferson stood out in that victory and is expected to keep growing. Minnesota’s defense has been the backbone early on, with Brian Flores’ unit playing among the best in the league and helping the Vikings lean into a defense-first identity while the other NFC North teams ride their offenses.
Minnesota’s next game is set for next week, when the Colts come to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET, 12:00 p.m.
CT on Sunday, October 12. The game will air on CBS, with announcers still to be determined, and it will also be available on Fubo.
Here’s a look at the Vikings’ next five games:
10/25 vs. Colts, 1:00 p.m.
11/1 @ Lions, 1:00 p.m.
11/9 vs. Bills, 8:15 p.m.
11/15 @ Packers, 1:00 p.m.
11/22 vs. 49ers, 8:20 p.m.

Vikings Fans Are Bracing For One Stretch To Test This 5-0 Start
Five games into a 5-0 start, Vikings fans are feeling pretty good about where this 2026 season is headed. In a recent poll, 79% of respondents said the team is trending in the right direction, a sign that the early momentum has done more than just win over the standings. It has also raised the conversation beyond whether Minnesota is good and into how long this opening run can actually last.
The next real measuring stick on the schedule is already drawing plenty of attention, with most voters circling the upcoming Buffalo trip as the spot where the first stumble might arrive. Others are looking even further down the road, whether that means a tougher stretch after that or the possibility of carrying an undefeated record all the way to the Mexico City meeting with San Francisco in Week 11. For now, the optimism is real, but so is the sense that one of these high-profile games will tell the story of just how sturdy this start really is. [Read more 🡒]
Former Vikings Fan Favorite Faces Serious Off-Field Allegation
Cordarrelle Patterson, one of the more memorable playmakers from recent Vikings seasons, is back in the news for troubling reasons after an arrest in East Tennessee on Oct. 17. The former Minnesota fan favorite was booked at the Sevier County jail on a domestic assault charge, a jarring development involving a player whose return-style explosiveness once made him a constant highlight on special teams and a useful weapon on offense.
Patterson was released about 11 hours later on a $1,000 bond, and there has been no public release of additional details about the incident or any court proceedings. For now, the situation remains unsettled, with the available information offering only a stark headline and few answers about what comes next. [Read more 🡒]
Vikings Face A Trade Deadline Call On Jauan Jennings
With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, Jauan Jennings has surfaced in a speculative deal that would send the veteran wideout back to the 49ers. The idea is rooted in familiarity as much as need, since Jennings already knows San Franciscos offense and could be viewed as a plug-in option for a team that knows exactly what it would be getting.
For Minnesota, the discussion is less about nostalgia than about value and fit, especially with Jennings production this season not matching the level that would normally create a bigger market. The proposal attached to the idea is modest, which says plenty about how the league is viewing this one, but the more interesting part is whether the Vikings would consider moving on from a player who still has a clear connection to a contender before the deadline arrives.
