FORT MYERS, FLA. - The buzz around Kaelen Culpepper, one of the Twins’ most promising prospects, is palpable. His potential to shine in the team’s infield is clear, but fans will have to wait a bit longer to see him in major league action.
Culpepper, along with first baseman Aaron Sabato, was reassigned to minor league camp on March 11. Both players, former first-round picks, were in camp as non-roster invitees. While Culpepper has yet to step onto a Class AAA field, Sabato got a taste of AAA last year after spending several seasons in Class AA.
At 23, Culpepper was the Twins’ top pick in 2024 and is widely recognized as a top 100 prospect. He made an impressive showing in his first big-league camp, hitting .316 with a double, two RBIs, a walk, and five strikeouts over 19 at-bats. Highlighting his stint, Culpepper delivered a walk-off single that secured a 2-1 win against the Detroit Tigers in a Grapefruit League matchup.
Sabato, now 26, was the Twins’ first-round selection in 2020. In his recent camp performance, he went 3-for-13, hitting two doubles, drawing a walk, and striking out six times.
As both players head back to minor league camp, the Twins’ faithful can look forward to their continued development and the promise they hold for the future.
