Twins Stun Fans by Cutting Promising Prospect from Spring Roster

Despite impressive minor league performances, the Twins have streamlined their spring roster, sending notable prospect Kalai Rosario and two others back to minor league camp.

FORT MYERS, FLA. - As the Twins gear up for the final stretch of spring training, they made some roster moves on Tuesday, sending three promising non-roster players back to the minors. With only six games left before the regular season, the focus is sharpening on who will make the cut.

Outfielders Kala’i Rosario and Kyler Fedko, along with infielder Tanner Schobel, are heading to minor league camp. These young talents had strong showings in the minors last year, but their big league debut will have to wait a little longer.

The Twins' camp now hosts 21 position players, including a couple of non-roster catchers and infielders still vying for a spot on the team.

Kala’i Rosario, a 23-year-old outfielder and fifth-round pick from the 2020 draft, showcased his potential with a solid .333 batting average in Grapefruit League action. His performance included a homer, four RBIs, and a mix of walks and strikeouts, hinting at the power and patience he could bring to the lineup. Last season, he wrapped up his year at Class AA Wichita.

Kyler Fedko, who brings versatility with his experience at both first base and in the outfield, split his last season between Class AA and AAA. In the Grapefruit League, the 26-year-old managed three hits and drew a couple of walks, though he also faced challenges with strikeouts.

As the Twins fine-tune their roster, these moves highlight the tough decisions teams face in balancing potential with immediate needs. Rosario and Fedko, along with Schobel, will continue to develop their skills in the minors, keeping an eye on their future in the majors.
