The Minnesota Twins are heading toward a quiet finish to their season, and the next wave of talent is already getting a runway. With 12 games left and the club 5.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League, the Twins’ postseason chances are finished.
Most of the organization’s affiliates are done, too, with Triple-A St. Paul the lone exception.
That makes the Arizona Fall League one of the few real baseball stages left on the calendar, and the Twins are sending eight prospects to Salt River. They’ll join a Rafters roster that also includes players from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies, and New York Yankees organizations.

The Twins aren’t rolling out a headline-heavy class here. This is a more measured group, with Yasser Mercedes standing out as the top-ranked name in the bunch at No. 17 in the organization according to MLB Pipeline.
Mercedes, now something of a post-hype prospect, had a strong 2024 season as a 19-year-old with an .879 OPS, but 2025 was a tougher year. He played 109 games across two Single-A levels, hit .249 with a .797 OPS, struck out 137 times, and still showed his power with 18 home runs.
A strong Fall League showing could give him a cleaner launch into next season.
Kyle DeBarge is probably the most intriguing bat in the group. Minnesota took him in the first round in 2024, 33rd overall, and he can move around the infield. After posting a .709 OPS at High-A in 2025, he spent the full 2026 season at Double-A Wichita, where he played 120 games and hit .221 with a .677 OPS.

The strikeout totals are high for DeBarge, too - 138 of them - but so is the impact on the bases. He has 122 stolen bases in 146 attempts over 267 minor league games, which works out to 83.6 percent. There’s real utility-infielder potential here if he can sharpen the plate discipline.
Minnesota is also leaning heavily into arms. Five of the eight prospects are pitchers, and every one of those pitchers except one throws left-handed. Pitching is always in demand, and the Twins are sending a big chunk of it to Arizona.
Jacob McCombs is one of the names worth tracking closely. A 2025 seventh-round pick, he got his first full pro season under his belt at High-A and played 67 games.
The results were solid - a .268 average and .830 OPS - though he still needs to tighten up the strike zone. The running game is another area that needs work; he went 16-for-27 on stolen-base attempts in 2026.

Jake Murray and Brian Zeldin are both listed as 26-year-olds because each missed time late in the season. Murray was undrafted out of Campbell, while Zeldin came from Indy-Ball. For both, this may be one more chance to give the organization a reason to keep them in the mix.
Ross Dunn, a former 10th-round pick in 2023, threw just 23 2/3 innings for Cedar Rapids this season. Cesar Lares and Cleiber Maldonado are both former international signings who are still trying to take that next step.
The Arizona Fall League opens on October 3, and the championship game is set for November 14 in Peoria.

The Twins are headed into their final series against the Texas Rangers with more than just a seasons finish line in view. The clubhouse could also be approaching the end of the road with three familiar veterans: catcher Ryan Jeffers, first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell and pitcher Tyler Rogers, all of whom are set to hit free agency this offseason.
Jeffers and Bell both appear unlikely to be back, which gives Minnesota a chance to start sorting through what the next version of the roster might look like. Rogers is the more interesting case, since there is at least a path for him to remain in the organization on a minor-league deal, but for now the larger question is how many of these familiar pieces the Twins will actually carry into next year.
