Twins Are Bringing Back A Look Longtime Fans Will Absolutely Love

As anticipation builds for the Twins Field of Dreams game, fans can look forward to a nostalgic nod with the team donning iconic throwback uniforms that encapsulate a cherished era in Minnesota baseball history.

The Twins are leaning all the way into nostalgia for their Field of Dreams matchup with the Phillies on August 13th, and the first look makes the plan pretty clear: this is a straight-up trip back to the franchise’s earliest days.

Minnesota will wear its original home uniforms from the 1960s and early 1970s, the same look that later returned as an alternate during the first nine seasons at Target Field. The last time the Twins put these uniforms on was for the final game of Joe Mauer’s Hall of Fame career, which gives this throwback another layer of familiarity for fans who’ve seen it before.

The jersey is white with blue pinstripes running through both the top and the pants, replacing the cream-toned version the team had used previously. Across the chest sits the original cursive “Twins” wordmark in navy blue outlined in red. The back keeps that same color treatment for the numbers, and there’s no nameplate, since the Twins didn’t add those until the baby blue uniforms arrived in the mid-1970s.

There is one unavoidable modern touch: the Nike swoosh on the upper left chest, which is part of every MLB uniform under the league’s deal with Nike. The Yankees and White Sox had the same detail on their 2021 Field of Dreams uniforms. On the sleeve, the Twins will use the Minnie and Paul logo, a mark that has seen very few changes over the franchise’s 67 years in the Twin Cities.

The cap is navy blue with the interlocking “TC” logo, which stayed intact for most of the team’s history before getting a modern update with the uniform rebrand that began in the 2023 season. Navy socks complete the look, and there’s a good chance plenty of players will go with high socks to match the era. Stirrup sightings wouldn’t be a shock, either.

The Twins had choices here, but the original home set was the cleanest and most fitting answer for an event built on nostalgia.

Byron Buxtons All-Star Moment Just Raised A Bigger Twins Question

Byron Buxtons All-Star nod still mattered in the bigger picture for the Twins, even with the center fielder unable to take part in the game itself. Being voted in as an American League starter was a reminder of how much respect he has around the league, and it also fit the way Minnesota has talked about him for years: as a franchise player whose value goes well beyond the box score.

The timing now turns the focus back to what comes next for Minnesota. The Twins are expecting Buxton back from the 10-day injured list during their upcoming road trip after the All-Star break, and his status has already become part of a larger conversation about where he fits in the organizations future. After a stretch of trade speculation, the club has made clear how much it values his loyalty, and the next few days should bring another checkpoint in that relationship. [Read more 🡒]

Byron Buxton Just Addressed The Twins Trade Rumors Himself

Byron Buxton spent All-Star Game week doing what star players usually do in that setting, but one of the biggest questions around him had nothing to do with the exhibition itself. The Twins center fielder has been the subject of trade speculation, and the chatter naturally picked up because Philadelphia is looking for right-handed hitting help in the outfield as the deadline approaches.

Buxton, though, made it clear where he stands on the matter, and that matters more than any rumor mill buzz. For Minnesota, it is another reminder that the conversation around its most dynamic player may be louder outside the clubhouse than inside it, while the Phillies may have to turn their attention to other options if they want to upgrade that part of the roster.
