Steven Kwan Linked To Frustrating Trade

As the offseason begins, the Cleveland Guardians are exploring trade opportunities with the Texas Rangers, with Steven Kwan and Blake Perkins as prime outfielder candidates to watch.

The Guardians are already showing up in trade chatter, and one of the teams linked to them is the Texas Rangers.

CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa pointed to Cleveland outfielders as possible answers for Texas, which is searching for center field help heading into next season. In his view, “Jarren Duran (Red Sox) and Steven Kwan (Guardians) stand out as center field trade candidates, though Kwan in particular will come at a high price. A cheaper, defense-first stopgap like, say, Denzel Clarke (Athletics) or Blake Perkins (Guardians) may be the best short-term option while Carter is on the mend,” Axisa wrote.

Kwan is the bigger name in that group for a reason. He earned an AL Gold Glove nomination in center field after making a clean move over from left, where he had won four straight Gold Gloves from 2022 to 2025. His season at the plate had a rough start - so rough that he nearly got bumped from the lineup and was removed from the leadoff spot - but he settled in after the break and finished with his usual reliable production: .282/.382/.349 and a 114 wRC+.

There’s also the contract angle. Kwan is heading into his final year of arbitration, which could make Cleveland more willing to listen if the return is right.

If the Guardians decide they’d rather move a less expensive piece, Perkins is another name to watch. Cleveland acquired him in the Craig Yoho transaction before the deadline, and he never appeared for the big-league club.

Over his career, Perkins has hit .223/.307/.330 with an 81 wRC+, and his value comes almost entirely from the glove. He’s a no-bat, plus-glove option.

However it plays out, Cleveland looks likely to be involved in the market. The Guardians have roster holes like everyone else, and they also have enough outfield depth to be mentioned in deals. Expect at least one outfielder to come up in trade talks - and possibly to be moved.

Twins Fans Have A Real Silver Slugger Argument With The White Sox

The Silver Slugger conversation in the American League has turned into a pretty real debate for Twins fans, with Kody Clemens and Chase Meidroth both in the mix at second base. Clemens gave Minnesota the kind of profile that tends to catch voters eyes, pairing stronger quality-of-contact and power numbers with useful baserunning and a season that looked especially sharp when he was in the lineup at second base.

Meidroth, meanwhile, built his case on broader offensive value and steadier all-around production while handling second base for most of the year with the White Sox. The contrast makes this one tricky: Clemens had the louder impact in certain situations, while Meidroth offered the more complete statistical rsum, which is exactly why this award race has become one worth watching closely. Twins Payroll Boost Puts One Offseason Dilemma Front And Center

The Twins are headed into an offseason with more payroll room to work with, and that alone changes the tone of the winter. After a season in which Minnesota has been weighing how far it can push its spending, the front office now has the chance to look beyond bargain-bin fixes and consider a few more meaningful additions, including help on both the position-player and pitching sides.

But the added flexibility comes with a catch, and it is already shaping the board. Some of the names that fit Minnesotas needs could also come attached to draft-pick penalties, which makes the decision tree a little messier than simply spending more money. Re-signing Ty France remains one path, while the bullpen market offers other possibilities, leaving the Twins to decide how aggressive they want to be when the cost is not just dollars but future draft capital too. Diamondbacks Linked To A Slugger Who Could Hurt A Rival Fast

Jake Bauers has quickly become one of the more intriguing bats on the market after a strong 2026 season in Milwaukee, where he led the Brewers in home runs and picked up NLCS MVP honors. For a Twins club that is always weighing ways to add left-handed thump, his name has surfaced as part of a crowded free-agent picture, with Arizona, Cleveland and San Diego also said to be in the mix.

Milwaukee has already extended a qualifying offer, which means any team that lands Bauers would have to navigate the added cost of draft-pick compensation. That wrinkle matters for Minnesota as it sorts through its offseason options, especially with a player who could change a lineup quickly while also forcing a rival to lose more than just a bat if he walks away.
