Carlos Correa's MN Lake Adventure Before Stunning Trade Back to Astros

Carlos Correa's harrowing near-drowning experience in Lake Minnetonka last summer profoundly impacted both his personal faith and his professional journey, culminating in a notable trade back to the Houston Astros.

Minnesota Twins fans, enjoy the warm weather while it lasts! Tomorrow promises a delightful mid-70s, perfect for baseball and maybe even a taste of lake life.

However, former Twin Carlos Correa might not be as eager to dive back into Minnesota's waters. After being traded back to the Houston Astros last July, Correa shared a harrowing experience that might keep him away from the lakes for good.

A Close Call on Lake Minnetonka

Last summer, Correa faced a life-threatening situation while swimming in Lake Minnetonka with his three-year-old son. As he tells it, a sudden bout of cramping left him struggling in the water, far from the safety of his boat. With his son on his back, Correa found himself in a desperate fight for survival.

His hamstrings and quads cramped up, and his energy waned as he tried to stay afloat. In a stroke of luck, he reached a buoy that provided a brief respite. However, as he clung to it, he slipped and injured his hand on the chain anchoring the buoy.

A Desperate Cry for Help

Despite the injury, Correa managed to call out to his family on the boat. His father-in-law heard his cries and swam out with a life jacket. In a dramatic moment, Correa was able to grab the jacket with his pinkie, securing his and his son's safety.

A Turning Point in Faith

This near-death experience had a profound impact on Correa. While it wasn't the reason for his trade to the Astros, it did lead him to a deeper connection with his faith.

During those tense moments in the water, Correa made a promise to God to serve Him if he survived. Since then, he's been hosting a weekly Bible study at his home in Houston and sharing his faith more openly with teammates.

Back on the Field

On the baseball front, Correa is working to rebound from a challenging season. Before his trade, he played 93 games with the Twins, hitting .267 with 7 home runs and a .704 OPS. After joining the Astros, he improved his performance, hitting .290 with 6 home runs and a .785 OPS in 51 games.

Carlos Correa's story is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the power of faith. As he looks to make an impact both on and off the field, fans will be watching to see how his journey unfolds.
