LeBron James still hasn’t made his call, and the wait is starting to ripple beyond the NBA’s usual rumor mill. According to Adam Silver, even next season’s national television schedule is stuck until James decides where he’s going to play.
“We have to finish up the schedule and where LeBron plays affects the schedule … opening week, Christmas. So I need him to make a decision.”
That uncertainty has kept a handful of teams in the conversation, and Shams Charania added another layer on Thursday during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show. His reporting made one thing clear: James and Rich Paul are not sitting around waiting for some other move to happen before they choose a destination.

That list still includes the Minnesota Timberwolves, along with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers. Shams also said there will not be any new teams added to the mix.
The Heat have drawn plenty of attention in recent days, especially after their official YouTube account briefly scheduled a LeBron James introductory press conference for July 27 before deleting it. That only fueled the idea that Miami might be the front-runner.
Cleveland, too, had its own wave of buzz earlier in the process. But the longer this drags on, the more the Timberwolves keep hanging around in the background.
Brian Windhorst also said LeBron James will not be doing another introductory press conference after the one he held in 2010 when he joined Miami.
