Timberwolves Stun Blazers as McDaniels and Edwards Light Up the Scoreboard

Timberwolves edge past the Blazers with a thrilling win, as Jaden McDaniels and Anthony Edwards shine in a high-scoring night.

The Timberwolves hit the road for a three-game stint, kicking things off with a nail-biting win against the Trail Blazers in Portland. With Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid back in action, the Wolves edged out a 124-121 victory, thanks in large part to Gobert's clutch performance in the final quarter.

The game wasn't without its heated moments. A tense exchange saw Portland’s Sidy Cissoko and Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels both hit with technical fouls after a flagrant foul by Ayo Dosunmu on Cissoko. This skirmish erupted with the Wolves holding a slim 101-100 lead and just over nine minutes left on the clock.

Gobert, returning from a suspension, was pivotal down the stretch. He notched 10 points and dominated the boards with 19 rebounds. His key contributions included sinking two free throws off an offensive rebound and a crucial putback following an Anthony Edwards miss, pushing the Wolves ahead 115-109.

Edwards, who had a scorching first half, cooled off but still managed 34 points on 11-for-27 shooting. McDaniels was a force, tallying 29 points on an efficient 11-for-15, along with five blocks, three steals, and six rebounds. He capped the night with a high-flying slam that sealed the win.

Coach Chris Finch praised McDaniels' relentless work ethic, highlighting his dedication and growing confidence. “Nothing happens without the work,” Finch noted, emphasizing McDaniels’ commitment to his craft.

This victory was a crucial rebound for the Wolves, who had stumbled against the 76ers without Gobert. His return showcased his value, particularly as the team gears up for the season's final stretch.
