NBA Teams Get Mixed Injury Updates Ahead Of Playoffs

As key players like McBride return and others remain sidelined, NBA teams navigate injury challenges impacting their playoff pursuits.

Miles McBride is set to make his comeback for the Knicks this Sunday after being out since January 27 due to sports hernia surgery. This season, McBride has been lighting it up, scoring a career-high 12.9 points per game and sinking 42.0% of his 6.9 three-point attempts per game-a personal best.

His return couldn’t come at a more critical time for the Knicks, who are in hot pursuit of the Celtics for the second seed in the East. With crucial matchups against the Thunder and Rockets looming, every game is pivotal. As it stands, the Knicks trail the Celtics by just 1.5 games.

While McBride will be back on the court, he’ll be under a minutes restriction, though the specifics remain undisclosed. Meanwhile, Landry Shamet is accompanying the team on their road trip and is making strides in his recovery from a knee bone bruise, as noted by coach Mike Brown.

Elsewhere in the league, the injury updates continue:

Blazers coach Tiago Splitter reported that Jerami Grant underwent an MRI for his calf and will need further testing before a recovery timeline can be established. Grant experienced a “pop” in his right calf during Friday’s loss to the Mavericks.

For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards has been upgraded to questionable for Monday’s game. Edwards has missed the last six games with a knee injury, during which the Wolves have managed a 3-2 record. They currently hold a slim half-game lead over the Rockets for the fifth seed in the West.

The Pistons are facing a challenging injury report for Monday's game against the Thunder. Jalen Duren (right knee), Tobias Harris (left hip), and Duncan Robinson (right hip) are all doubtful, while Ausar Thompson, Cade Cunningham (left lung), and Isaiah Stewart (left calf) are also sidelined.
