Julius Randle's Post-All-Star Struggles: A Closer Look
Julius Randle has faced a rough patch since the All-Star break, with many speculating that trade rumors involving Giannis Antetokounmpo might be weighing on him. Before the break, Randle was in top form, averaging 22 points and shooting nearly 50% from the field. However, in the 11 games following the break, his performance dipped, averaging just 13 points and shooting 39%.
But let's not jump to conclusions too quickly. On Sunday, Randle showed signs of breaking out of his slump.
Despite the Timberwolves' loss to the Thunder, Randle shone brightly, scoring 32 points with impressive efficiency. He hit 11-of-18 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Adding seven rebounds, six assists, and a block against reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Randle reminded everyone of his All-Star caliber.
Before the All-Star break and after the trade deadline, Randle was on fire. The Timberwolves were linked to trade talks for Antetokounmpo, with Randle's name in the mix.
Yet, he stayed put in Minnesota. Just before the break, Randle dropped a season-high 41 points against the Blazers and notched a triple-double against the Hawks.
While trade rumors can be unsettling, Randle's recent slump seems more like a temporary dip in form rather than a reaction to off-court chatter. Sunday's performance could be the turning point he needs to regain his stride and continue leading the Timberwolves with his dynamic play.
