Anthony Edwards Just Became The Target Of A Brutal New Roast

In a playful yet pointed exchange, Jaylen Brown takes a personal swipe at Anthony Edwards following an Adidas commercial jibe.

Jaylen Brown wasted no time firing back at Anthony Edwards after the Minnesota Timberwolves star took a shot at his hairline in an Adidas commercial.

Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP and a new Philadelphia 76ers wing, turned the joke around while streaming live on Twitch with Sixers teammate VJ Edgecombe on Friday. “{Adidas} needs to get my boy some condoms,” Brown said, drawing a strong reaction from Edgecombe.

The line was aimed at Edwards’ well-known off-court situation. Edwards had four babies with four different women in the span of only a year, and he has also been involved in multiple child support cases. Brown is far from the first person to bring that up in a roast, but he made sure his response landed.

Edwards’ jab came in an Adidas commercial in September, when he poked fun at the hairlines of both Brown and LeBron James. Brown’s comeback made clear he didn’t let that one slide.

The NBA would rather keep Edwards’ off-court life out of the spotlight, especially with the league looking at him as one of the likeliest successors to LeBron James as its face. Still, the attention keeps following him. Edwards did not seek custody of all of his children, despite providing financial assistance, and he married longtime girlfriend Shannon Jackson in July.

Brown, a fellow Georgia native, clearly wasn’t interested in playing nice. And if these two cross paths when Philadelphia and Minnesota meet in January, the exchange may not stay confined to Twitch.

Anthony Edwards Is Giving The Wolves Their Best Early Sign Yet

Anthony Edwards has spent Minnesotas preseason giving the Timberwolves exactly the kind of early signal they wanted after an offseason of recovery and roster turnover. He has been scoring efficiently in exhibition play and, just as important for a team trying to find its footing, he has looked like a player comfortable enough to keep attacking while working alongside new teammates LaMelo Ball and Jonathan Kuminga.

Chris Finch has liked what he has seen from Edwards condition, and the broader picture matters just as much as the points. If Edwards is healthy and blending naturally into the group, it gives Minnesota a far better chance to smooth out the integration period before the games start to count, even if the real test of how ready this team is will come once the regular season opens. Timberwolves Get An Early Test In A Matchup Fans Should Watch Closely

The preseason opener in Miami gives the Timberwolves an immediate measuring stick, and not just because it comes at the same venue that will host their regular-season opener. With Minnesotas roster reshaped over the offseason, this matchup arrives as an early chance to see how the Wolves look against a team that can challenge them physically in the frontcourt and force them to sort through the kind of size they will see again once games start to count.

Miamis group will give Minnesota a useful stress test in that area, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo setting the tone and more size behind them to keep the pressure on. For the Wolves, the question is less about the final score and more about how their new-look rotation handles that type of matchup, which makes this one worth watching closely even in exhibition season. Timberwolves Rotation Pieces Are Suddenly Playing For More Than This Season

The Timberwolves have reached the part of the season where even rotation pieces are being judged with an eye toward what comes next. Terrence Shannon Jr., Bones Hyland and Rudy Gobert all sit in different places on the roster, but each has at least some reason to wonder whether this could be their final year in Minnesota, with contract status, performance and overall fit all feeding into the discussion.

For Shannon, the intrigue is less about what he has shown than how crowded the path is in front of him. Hyland brings the uncertainty that comes with a short-term arrangement, while Gobert remains a franchise-defining player whose future is tied to bigger roster decisions than nightly box scores. A few teammates are off the table because they are only in their first year with the club, but these three are already in the part of the conversation where every stretch of play matters.
