Sean Rice, a standout linebacker from St. Laurence in Evergreen Park, Illinois, is making waves as one of the top junior prospects in the state.
Since October, he's been racking up offers from notable programs like Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas State, and Purdue. Minnesota was quick to recognize his potential, extending their second Big Ten offer to him back in November.
Rice was on campus to witness the Gophers' victory over Wisconsin, a game that likely left a strong impression.
Minnesota's interest in Rice is evident, with linebacker coach Mariano Sori-Marin making two trips to Illinois in January, accompanied by defensive coordinator Danny Collins on the most recent visit. Their efforts have paid off as Rice has scheduled an official visit with the Gophers for their Summer Splash weekend on May 29th.
Rice isn't the only talent heading to Minnesota that weekend. He'll be joined by fellow linebackers Bryce Kish and Kason Clayborne, making them the first trio to lock in official visits with the Gophers for the 2027 recruiting cycle. With these visits, Minnesota is clearly aiming to bolster their defensive lineup with promising young talent.
