Minnesota’s 2027 football commits are already getting their seasons rolling, and a few of them wasted no time putting together eye-catching opening-week performances.
Roy Price turned in the kind of all-around stat line that jumps off the page. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound edge rusher helped lead his team to a win with eight total tackles, including two sacks, six solo tackles and a hurry.
He also carried the ball six times for 33 yards, with a long run of 11, and added a safety plus a blocked punt. His posted Week 1 line also listed nine solo tackles, two assists, one blocked punt, one safety, one sack, two tackles for loss and those six carries for 33 yards.
Furian Inferrera delivered a huge night at quarterback. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound future Gopher completed 12 of 17 passes for 284 yards, good for nearly 24 yards per completion, and threw three touchdowns without an interception.
He added 20 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground, giving him five total touchdowns in a 47-3 victory. His posted numbers showed a 1-0 start, 12-for-17 passing, 284 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, 20 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Jayden Thomas was just as explosive. The Centennial wideout in Vegas caught 13 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns in a monster outing.
That followed a strong opener two weeks earlier, when he had four catches for 73 yards. Thomas is also working as a kick returner, though he’s had only one chance so far, a 23-yard return.
His own post from the game listed three touchdowns, 14 receptions and 214 yards.
Another Centennial player, Maxwell Miles, has already been through two games. His team is 1-1, and Miles has totaled four tackles across those contests while forcing one fumble.
On the defensive side, Jayden German and Bishop Verot opened with a 17-0 loss to John Carroll Catholic. German finished with one solo tackle in the defeat.
Wyatt Wilber’s opener ended in frustration as well. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker and his team fell 43-42 in double overtime to rival Alcoa. No defensive statistics were posted in the available stat sites and game reports.
Dylan Mota’s St. Patrick High School team in Illinois opened with a convincing 54-27 win, piling up 524 total yards and 202 rushing yards as a team.
Jamail Sewell’s Wisconsin Lutheran squad also came away with a win, beating Waterford 35-21. Sewell, listed at 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds, was featured in a video of him dunking.
The next commit set to begin play is Kevin Ferrygood of Cy-Fair, Texas, whose first game is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th.
